The January 21, 2025, episode of Married at First Sight highlighted an argument between Michelle and David, one of the couples participating in the experiment. In the episode, David admitted to texting several exes during their marriage, a confession that left Michelle visibly upset.
David revealed that he had reached out to Danielle, a former Tinder match, Jackie, a close friend, and Roxie, another ex. Michelle confronted him, expressing her frustration with his behavior.
"The problem is we are married. I’m not sure if you know this or not. Normally, married people don’t go on dates with other women and they don’t s**t other women,” she said.
The episode also revisited earlier tensions between the two, including Michelle’s disappointment with David’s choice to live with his parents, which she felt did not meet her expectations in a partner. It further highlighted the challenges faced by the couple as they struggled to align their expectations and navigate their relationship.
Michelle confronted David about texting exes in Married at First Sight
In the recent episode of Married at First Sight, Michelle confronted David after he admitted to maintaining contact with multiple exes during their marriage. David explained,
“Yes, I’ve texted Danielle, who I got coffee for this morning. Danielle is a girl that I dated on Tinder. I text Jackie, who is one of my best friends. I’ve seen Roxie. This is another girl that I dated on Tinder awhile back.”
After listening to this explanation, Michelle said that it sounded "so bad," and questioned whether David understood the boundaries of a committed relationship. David defended his actions, stating that he didn’t know it would upset her because the rule had not been "established."
He argued that many of their issues stemmed from what he described as "unspoken assumptions," adding:
“There we go with our assumptions again. Maybe that’s our problem. We assume so much. I am friends with my exes. She reached out, and I reached back. What is the problem?” David said.
In a confessional, Michelle expressed her doubts, stating that she wanted to know the truth but believed she would never get it because David would always "stick to his story." She added that she felt he was lying.
Living arrangements caused earlier disagreements between David and Michelle
Earlier in the season of Married at First Sight, Michelle expressed her disappointment with David’s decision to live with his parents.
“I just don’t think it’s attractive. I have worked my b*tt off, and I wanted someone who was my equal or my counterpart. I just wasn’t expecting to be married to someone who lives at home,” she explained.
David defended his living situation, explaining that he was living at home "to save money for the next chapter" of his life. He shared that he bought his own groceries, paid rent to his parents, and had recently paid off his car.
David further mentioned that he was "still paying off student loans," and believed that, financially, it was "the right decision" for himself at the time. Despite his explanation, Michelle felt that his living situation reflected a lack of readiness for the responsibilities of marriage.
Married at First Sight follows couples during their first eight weeks of marriage, it concludes on Decision Day, when they choose to stay married or divorce.
