The Mormon mothers will allow the audience to venture into their journey and explore all the controversies and scandals. The show released its trailer on August 14, 2024, and introduced the audience to the world of Mormon wives.
The trailer had the Mormon mothers talking about the ‘swinging scandal’ and addressing other personal facets of their lives. The trailer started a series of backlash against the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives for disrespecting the Mormon culture.
Taylor Frankie Paul, Jennifer Affleck, and Jessi Ngatikaura joined ABC4 in an interview before the release of the show, to present their perspective and mentioned that one should wait to watch the show before coming at them.
Jennifer Affleck addressed in the interview that they are publicly owning their way of life, and they have a different way of practicing their faith. She said:
“I think we need to remember what we believe in, and what we believe in is that we are technically all sinners, we’re all imperfect … and that’s what the Atonement is for. We look to Jesus to be better, and we’re all on our different journeys with our faith.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ stars open up about getting the brickbat from the public
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will hit the small screen on September 6, 2024, and the audience will get to zoom into all the controversies that aired related to Mormon wives.
The Mormon wives have had major fame as influencers on TikTok, and as soon as the trailer was released public jumped on to these stars, pointing fingers at their way of life, and how they are not attached to the church.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Paul, Jennifer, and Jessi addressed all the judgments and negative comments by the public and presented their side. The Momon wives are all born and brought up as a part of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, famously known as Mormon.
Paul and Jennifer are still very much part of the church culture and attend the church.
The Mormon wives also mentioned that their way of living differs from the standard of the church, but it’s the way some Mormons are, claimed The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' star Paul in the interview with ABC4.
The three members of the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Paul, Jessi, and Affleck joined ABC4 in an interview on August 30, 2024, and themselves imperfect, and mentioned how the backlash from their community was hurtful and tough to take. Jessi expressed in the interview:
“Seeing the backlash from our community has been rough, but I also think that if they gave it a chance they would realize it’s just an empowering show about women in this religion and culture but navigating it differently because we’re all imperfect humans.”
Paul was the one to openly accept the ‘soft swinging’ controversy on her social media, and she could very well be considered the reason for the making of the show.
Paul expressed her views boldly in the interview and pressed on the fact that some Mormons have different lives, they drink, they have affairs, and have all the other flaws. She said ‘Not everyone lives in this one way'.
However, irrespective of all the retaliation, and controversy, the cast members of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives are inclined to the point that there is more to the show, and Affleck added during the interview:
"The more that people will want to learn and know more about the LDS faith, and I think it’s a win.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will premiere on September 6, 2024, on HULU.
