"We are together again"— Love Never Lies: South Africa star Naledi chimes in on breaking up and getting back together with Nikiwe

Love Never Lies: South Africa reunion premiered on Netflix on December 8, bringing back all the couples to share what they’ve been up to since the finale. The episode revealed that Naledi and Nikiwe were still together.

However, host Minenhle “Minnie” Dlamini noticed that their rings were off and asked them about the situation. Naledi revealed that they and their partner broke up shortly after the finale but later rekindled their relationship with a fresh perspective.

"Right now, we are together again. There was a breakup like… Yeah. Earlier this year. Not directly after the show," Naledi said.

The Love Never Lies: South Africa couple broke up after Nikiwe found out Naledi was seeing someone else

Naledi and Nikiwe revealed during the Love Never Lies: South Africa reunion episode that they got back together after breaking up after the show.

While talking about their breakup, Nikiwe shared that she had advised Naledi to keep her informed whenever they started talking to someone new. However, when Naledi did start seeing someone they kept the news from Nikiwe.

Despite this, Nikiwe eventually found out about it and revealed, during the reunion episode, that the news came to her "spiritually," as it was conveyed to her through her "ancestor."

"I was told spiritually. I was told by my ancestor… …that, 'Hey, hold up. There's something happening here.' And then I got home and I was like, 'Listen, something is being presented to me and it's been presented to me like this is what's going on.' And then it was a, 'Well, now that you mention it,'" she said.

Naledi explained that they were silent about her being with someone else because they were scared. They did not want her relationship with Nikiwe to "collapse" as it meant everything to her.

The Love Never Lies: South Africa star further added that they were not particularly in a good place during that time as compared to when they made their agreement later on. Meanwhile, Nikiwe shared that she was deeply hurt by the situation and was struggling with it in every aspect of her life.

"I didn't take it well. I am struggling spiritually, I am struggling professionally, and I am struggling with my mental health. And then now I must find out outside of us. I was really hurt. Not because of the existence of the person, but because of how I was handled and how we were handled," she said.

The couple broke up after Nikiwe discovered Naledi had another suitor. However, Naledi was the first to remove her ring, declaring they were "done" at that point. They expressed feeling exhausted from constantly choosing Nikiwe and having to prove her loyalty repeatedly.

"I think I was done at that point, and I felt like I had chosen her above myself over and over again. And, I mean, I say it even on the last day of the show. "I genuinely hope my truth can be accepted," Naledi said.

Despite the break up the Love Never Lies: South Africa couple continued to live together. However, Naledi shared that they were out most of the time as they were dating someone else.

The pair eventually reconciled after a visit to a restaurant. Nikiwe recounted how Naledi asked if they were "difficult to love." The question led to them rebuilding their friendship which eventually resulted in them getting back together.

"When I got back, the first question I was asked is, "Am I difficult to love?" And then from that conversation, it was, "I miss my best friend." And then we kind of just started talking from then," Nikiwe shared.
