Welcome to Wrexham season 3: What to expect

The third season will be exciting, with an expanding fan base. Fans will have unprecedented access to the pitch and learn more from inside the locker room, where the action unfolds. The docuseries will follow Wrexham AFC's Women’s Team for the first time.

The first two seasons of Welcome to Wrexham won several Primetime Emmy Awards, giving the show the spotlight it deserves. Since then, thousands of Americans have been rooting for this small Welsh football club, which Ryan Reynolds co-owns.

For fans who might not know, the docuseries began in 2020 after Ryan and Rob McElhenney purchased Wrexham A.F.C. The project started with getting the camera crew to document the team’s dedication and passion for the game, and they accomplished all that when they won the trophy in the second season.

The official Welcome to Wrexham season 3 trailer was released on April 19. Although it lasts less than two minutes, fans can glimpse the excitement and sportsmanship.

The logline continues,

“Meanwhile, Wrexham AFC’s Women’s Team, fresh off an undefeated season that saw them promoted to the Welsh Adran Premier League, continues to show why women were meant to be footballers. With new players, a new pitch, and a whole new level of competition, can they continue to dominate and make a name for themselves at the top of the League?”

The third season of the documentary will follow the team throughout the 2023-24 season, the first time since 2008. It also does justice to include the audience and the residents of Wrexham with the rest of the world. Furthermore, the series extends beyond capturing the game as it describes the fandom supporting the team through all the highs and lows.

Notably, such a fantastic sports docuseries is possible due to the long-time dedication and efforts of co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney. Alongside them, the executive producers include Bryan Rowland, Josh Drisko, Jeff Luini, George Dewey, Nicholas Frenkel, and the team of Boardwalk Pictures. Ryan Reynolds’ film company also plays a vital role in marketing and co-producing this series.

Welcome to Wrexham season 3 will premiere on May 2 at 10 pm ET on Hulu.
