Tex Mex Motors released Season 2 on Friday, November 22, 2024. In Episode 3, Fox Body in the Henhouse, Rob "Rabbit" Pitts bought a '61 C10 Chevy Apache truck for $3000. He saw its potential and was confident they could sell it at a good price. However, he worried about his team's reaction to its run-down condition.

Rabbit's restoration team decided to give the car a modern, sleek makeover to attract collectors and enthusiasts. They finalized mineral gray paint for the body and added black seats with red French stitching.

However, as they worked, they kept discovering issues with the automobile, which snowballed the budget allotted for its transformation. From a damaged hood to a missing seat, the team encountered multiple hurdles during the process. However, they were certain they could turn it around, giving it a modern flair.

In addition to the repair costs, Rabbit struggled to sell the Apache since none of his customers were willing to pay $65,000. Ultimately, when buyers continued to decline his offer, he was compelled to lower his ask. In Episode 4, Rabbit sold the truck for $53,000 with a $5000 discount on tires bought from the buyer's shop.

"Long term, this is a win" — Tex Mex Motors star Rabbit on making a small profit on the Apache truck

In Tex Mex Motors Episode 3, Rabbit paid his acquaintance, Cabe $2,500 for the Apache truck. However, he had to pay an additional $500 to the owner of the car's title, bringing Rabbit's total to $3000. Although it was not the deal the Tex Mex Motors star hoped to get, he was not too upset about it because he aimed to make a good profit by selling it for over $60,000.

Jaime was disappointed with the purchase when she saw the car's state. Rabbit tried to motivate his team by saying:

"It may be half a truck, but it's half a legend."

The Apache mixed practicality with modern-day space-age amenities and body lines, making the automobile a "commodity on the hot-rod scene." As a result, Rabbit was certain that the first-gen C10 car would quickly attract collectors and fans.

Andy decided to give the car an unconventional gray paint job, meanwhile, Jaime started looking for the original '61 hood to replace the one present on the truck. In the meantime, Lucky had to start work from scratch and build seats for the interior.

"Let's do a black seat with some red French stitching on it. That way, it'll make it pop," Lucky said.

In addition, the crew also needed to find a proper engine and wheels for the truck. With the changes, the Tex Mex Motors cast knew the repair cost would skyrocket, however, they hoped to keep it under $12,000 to make a profit.

When Lucky started with the red topstitch on the pleats, he mentioned that the seats and the interior would take up a large portion of the budget because the Apache seats were quite large. Meanwhile, Andy painted the body, hoping to make it stand out from the typical colorful trucks on the road.

Jaime encountered a problem when she accidentally bought a hood with holes. It cost her triple the amount she wanted to pay and was not the one she saw online. The Tex Mex Motors star revealed that the purchase pushed them $15,000 to $20,000 over their limit.

Andy prepared a gray wooden bed to match the pickup, while Wes and Jaime installed the V8 engine in the car. After all the work was done, Jaime revealed that the repairs and parts added to around $45,000.

Rabbit met with potential buyers who were impressed with the modern finish of the truck. From the digital gauges to the cupholder, all the minute details caught the customer's attention. However, no one was willing to pay $65,000 for it.

The Tex Mex Motors star was compelled to lower his price and try and sell the car for $55,000. In Episode 4, he sold it to his tire dealer for $53,000 with a $5000 discount on tires purchased from his store. Since the profit was minimal, Rabbit worried about his team's reaction.

"Long term, this is a win. Just hope the rest of the team sees that," he said.

Jaime was upset about the profit margin but was relieved that the truck was sold.
