As the night went by in 90 Day: The Last Resort Episode 2, Jasmine would even go as far as deciding to leave the resort, signifying how close they came to the breaking point from the marriage.

A closer look at Jasmine and Gino’s struggles in 90 Day: The Last Resort Season 2 Episode 2

Relationship tensions emerge in the Canyons

During the 90 Day: The Last Resort group therapy exercise in the Arizona canyons, couples were asked to write down a word representing their relationship issues on rocks and carry it as a physical manifestation of their struggles. Jasmine chose the word "independence," representing the sense of confinement she experienced in her relationship with Gino. As she explained:

“I thought that it was gonna be temporarily, you know, until my green card was processed. But now that I got my green card, reality has hit me, and I still don’t have any sort of independence.”

Jasmine continued, expressing that even though she was now able to get a job, she still didn’t have a driver’s license and felt unsupported by Gino. She emphasized that her feelings of reliance on Gino were contributing to her growing dissatisfaction with their relationship. Gino, in turn, felt misunderstood and defensive, stating:

“I’ve been supporting you since you were in Panama, financially, and with emotional. Emotional. I’ve been supporting you since you’ve been in Michigan. That is total support, so don’t say I don’t support you.”

This conversation revealed a significant rift between them. Jasmine’s desire for more autonomy was met with Gino’s belief that he was already providing ample support. He dismissed her request for a car and driver’s license, claiming he couldn't afford it, to which Jasmine responded sharply, calling him a “scammer.”

Struggling with intimacy and emotional disconnect

A major topic of conversation throughout the 90 Day: The Last Resort episode was their lack of intimacy and the emotional distance between them. Jasmine revealed that their marriage had become “sexless,” explaining that she feared rejection from Gino whenever she tried to initiate physical affection.

“I am scared of taking the initiative. Because every time... I was approaching, like, getting close to kissing you, you will do this. You will push me away,” Jasmine stated.

Gino, however, defended his actions, saying:

“I have to have emotional connection with someone and not be fighting with someone every day in order to get to that point.”

He emphasized that he couldn’t be intimate without feeling emotionally connected to Jasmine, but this seemed to clash with her emotional needs. Jasmine, hurt by his responses, shared her thoughts in a 90 Day: The Last Resort confessional, saying:

“He doesn’t want to be intimate with me. It makes me feel I have to beg for attention, beg for love.”

This exchange highlighted their inability to meet each other's emotional and physical needs, which only worsened their already fragile bond. Jasmine expressed her frustration by questioning why Gino married her if he was unwilling to engage emotionally and physically, saying in a 90 Day: The Last Resort confessional:

“You can’t go from not sleeping with each other to having sex. It has to be slowly getting to that point.”

A deepening conflict and Jasmine’s desire to leave

The tension was building up, and it reached its peak when Jasmine, emotionally drained after a difficult argument with Gino, decided to call her friend Matt. While on the phone with Matt, she broke down in tears, stating:

“Gino and I had a very bad fight this morning and he said very hurtful things and he made me very mad. It makes me feel like I’m all by myself, I’m alone...I just need someone to listen to me right now, honestly. I want to go home, I don’t want to be here.”

Jasmine explained that she felt unsupported by Gino, both emotionally and physically, which led her to feel like she was fighting alone in their marriage. She further revealed her emotional connection with Matt, saying:

“Matt is a friend, he was one of my best friends in Michigan. I met him at the gym and we started working out together and after spending some time, we became friends.”

Gino was unaware of Jasmine’s friendship with Matt, and she chose not to tell him about it because she knew he would interpret it as something more than a platonic relationship. As Jasmine confided in Matt, she stated:

“I love him, I want to be with him, but at the same time, how can I make it work if the person that I love, you know, just pushes my buttons and gets the worst out of me?”

This made her question whether staying in the relationship with Gino was worth it, as she struggled with conflicting emotions. Matt, concerned for Jasmine, encouraged her to work through her issues with Gino, saying:

“You went out there to work on your marriage, and I think you should give each other a chance, but you can’t sit there and lock heads forever.”

However, Jasmine remained uncertain, saying she's not sure if "love is enough".
