Season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days returned with a new episode on Sunday, November 11, 2024. In the segment, Matilda brought Niles to her house and showed him around. Niles was shocked to see the state of the place and wondered how Matilda lived there with her family. Niles went so far as to compare her bedroom to a prison cell.
Matilda's brother and her friend later joined the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days couple to discuss the details of their impending knocking ceremony. Niles was surprised to discover that Matilda had invited 90 people to the event and expected his family to witness the ceremony too.
However, Niles knew his parents would not participate because they disapproved of his relationship with her. Meanwhile, Matilda and her sister discussed the money Niles would have to pay for the knocking ceremony.
Later, the couple went out to sell plantains, when Matilda complained to him about his behavior earlier in the day. She revealed that his remarks about her living conditions were disrespectful. However, she understood he acted that way because of his autism. Niles appreciated his 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days partner for communicating her concerns with him.
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days: Niles' parents think Matilda is taking advantage of him
Niles was shocked to see where Matilda lived. He struggled to process the house's structure and the rooms' appearance. After showing the open kitchen to Niles, Matilda brought him to the room where her mother stored the plantains for her business.
Niles was confused to see tires in the room and upon inquiring his fiancee about it, he discovered that they were kept to block the sheep and goats from eating the bananas. While speaking to the cameras, the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star confessed that Matilda's house looked much different from what he saw on video calls.
Niles exclaimed, "What?" when he saw where they showered, and asked, "Where's the running water?" Matilda explained they had to fetch water in their buckets and then shower.
"I know that they don't have much money but this house...this is not a house," he said.
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star felt "bad" for Matilda and her family. After seeing the room that Matilda slept in with three other people, Niles said, "This is not how human beings are supposed to live." He compared her bedroom to a prison cell, hurting Matilda, who was upset with Niles' "insulting" comments.
Later, Matilda and her sister discussed that Niles had to pay at least $249 for the knocking ceremony. Matilda confessed she wanted the guests to have a proper meal so she could save face in front of them.
"These are important traditions and I hope that Niles will agree to pay the cost," she said.
Soon the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days couple sat down with Matilda's brother, Hayford, and her friend, Enoch to discuss the knocking ceremony. Niles was shocked that Matilda planned to invite 90 people. Consequently, he requested that she "reduce the guestlist" but in vain.
His worries peaked when he learned that his parents needed to witness the ceremony and ask for Matilda's hand in marriage even if it was done virtually. During a confessional, Niles confessed that his parents did not support his relationship because they were afraid that Matilda was taking advantage of him.
"Sadly though I'm pretty confident that my parents are not going to participate in this knocking ceremony," he added.
The 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star suggested that Mr. Arc, a community elder, act as his father's representative at the event. However, Matilda worried Mr. Arc might reject the offer.
Later in the episode, Matilda confronted Niles about his comments on their living conditions. Although she stated that his remarks could have hurt her family, she understood he acted that way because of his autism. She asked him not to be too blunt about his feelings in front of others as it might affect them but urged him to be honest with her.
Niles felt relieved Matilda had communicated her concerns and did not give up on him.
"Matilda's teaching me how I should be treating her and that's...I am overjoyed that she's willing to do that for me," he said.
