The Bachelorette is an American reality dating show where a single woman is on a search to find her potential fiancé. Jenn Tran, a 26-year-old physician assistant student from Hillsdale, New Jersey, was the lead in season 21. She is now in a feud with her former friend Maria Georgas, a 29-year-old executive assistant from Kleinburg, Ontario, who was also considered a frontrunner for the role, along with runner-up Daisy Kent.

On the Call Her Daddy podcast episode of April 30, Maria claimed she was initially offered the role of Bachelorette and was even going through preparations, such as fittings, before declining. Maria implied that the role was almost guaranteed for her, implying that Jenn only got it because Maria (and possibly Daisy) declined.

The friendship and fallout between Jenn and Maria during The Bachelorette

Jenn Tran and Maria Georgas formed a strong bond during Joey Graziadei's season of The Bachelor. Their friendship was supportive and loving, with both women encouraging each other. Joey ultimately proposed to Kelsey Anderson.

Meanwhile, cracks began appearing as the lead for The Bachelorette season 21 was finalized. Fans predicted that Daisy Kent or Maria would be chosen because of their popularity and standing. Jenn was introduced as the new Bachelorette lead after Daisy announced in the 'After the Final Rose' episode that she had declined the role.

Tension escalated when Maria appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast on June 26 and revealed that she was supposed to be the Bachelorette before declining the role. She stated,

"I was offered the role. I mean, it was mine until I said it wasn't. To the point where I was doing fittings. It was set in stone."

She discussed why she decided to step down, saying she wasn't mentally ready for the role and felt it wasn't her time. Even though Maria said Jenn was the best choice, her words made it sound like she wasn't the first choice, which led to more rumors and hurt their friendship.

Jenn Tran’s response and the state of their friendship post The Bachelorette

Jenn Tran responded to Maria's claims on the Call Her Daddy podcast, expressing her disappointment with the reports that she was not the first choice for the Bachelorette. Jenn clarified that she was not a last-minute selection.

"We had meetings about it. We talked about it for months. And then they asked me, and I had the choice, and I chose to do it. I said yes," Jenn said.

She explained that there are always multiple contenders each season, and everything is official once the final decision is made. Jenn highlighted that the rumors distracted her from the journey, which she wanted to be proud of and own.

The tension between Jenn and Maria became clear when Maria unfollowed Jenn on Instagram after Jenn's appearance on the podcast, indicating a rift between the former friends. Maria's social media activity, including a TikTok video in which she lip-syncs to the phrase "Am I the villain?" seemingly indicated that she was addressing the ongoing drama with Jenn.

Jenn remains hopeful that their differences can be resolved, but their friendship currently remains strained. The latest finale episode of The Bachelorette is currently streaming on ABC and Hulu.
