When two Big Brother contestants make it to the finale, it is up to the jury to decide who wins the show. The jury casts the votes in the final for the person they think should win. However, before putting in their votes, they get to ask the final two questions as per need to make a rightful decision. The contestant with the majority jury votes wins the season and takes home the prize money.

Big Brother introduced the jury from season 2. It included the final seven evicted contestants from that season. From Big Brother season 15 to 24, the jury consisted of nine members, however, it changed back to seven in season 25. If there is a situation where the jury consists of even members, viewers get to vote as a tiebreaker.

However, members do not have any contact with the outside world, so their judgments are not tampered with by external viewpoints. The jury is updated on what's going on in the Big Brother house by DVD tapes brought in by the recently evicted house guest. These tapes include all the group competitions and events that took place.

Jury in Big Brother explained

House guests who are eliminated early from the show get to reunite with their families and go home. However, when the final seven (or nine in some seasons) contestants are evicted from the house, they are taken to a different house called the jury house.

These contestants live in the house for the rest of the Big Brother season till the finale. The house is often beautiful and luxurious, and the jury members are treated to their liking. They get a kitchen, gym, living room, bedrooms, game room, and a backyard with a pool or private beach.

Jury members are sometimes allowed to re-enter the house to create drama. In week 6 of season 12, HoH (Head of House) Brendon Villegas was sent to the jury house for a spa day while week 5 evicted contestant and juror Rachel Reilly was taken back into the house for 24 hours to wreak havoc.

In one of her TikTok videos after her season, Big Brother 23 houseguest Claire Rehfuss shared her experience of living in the jury house. She explained that they get to do whatever they want in the house. They were allowed to sleep and wake up any time they wanted to, and they had handlers in the house to take care of them and the house essentials.

Jury members' entertainment is taken care of as they are provided TV services like Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon. However, they don't get their hands on live TV and the platform where they can watch the show. They get monitored access to Spotify and whatever game they want to play. Members are also allowed to consume "two alcoholic beverages a week."

Pay for jury and houseguests

The jury is paid for their time, just like the houseguests. Houseguests are paid $1,000 for each week they spend in the house. After entering the jury house, they continue to receive the same amount each week. Houseguests often try to make it to the jury to keep the cash flowing in their pockets.

They can also earn more if they win America's Favorite Houseguest. The reward for this title last season was $50,000. The runner-up gets $75,000, and the winner $750,000.

Big Brother season 26 episodes air on CBS every Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
