Netflix's Outlast is one of the most brutal reality shows because of its one-rule concept. The contestants have to survive in the Alaskan wilderness and Outlast everyone to win the show.
The winning team gets the prize money of $1 million which is split between the remaining contestants on that team. Last season team Charlie emerged victorious and the prize money was divided between the three remaining team members; Seth Lueker, Paul Preece, and Nick Radner.
Season one winner had an interview with Netflix Tudum after the season and talked about their never-giving-up mentality. Charlie's team member Nick said that they were ready to die when it came to winning the prize money. Nick told Tudum:
“Me, Paul and Seth were all ready to die out there. I’m dead serious. We were ready to die or get evacuated, because we would not go home or fire that gun.”
How does Outlast season 2 work?
In season 2, 16 new contestants were dropped on an Alaskan island to survive as a team. Like the previous season, there was only one rule and that was to be a part of the team. Besides that contestants can do whatever they want to win the game. They can either play the rightful game and stick to their morals or play dirty and go to any limits.
The players could leave the game if they wished to at any point in the game. In order to get out, they had to shoot a flare gun into the sky. Contestants were also eliminated or disqualified if they were not part of a team. The players were allowed to change their team and if the team they were hoping to join agreed on their request.
If all members of a team are eliminated except for one who is left alone then they would get a time frame of 24 hours to join another them. If that cast member is unable to join any team then they will be disqualified and would no longer be part of the game.
Players can get a check-up from the medical team if they feel unwell. However, if they took help or if the medical team thought that the contestant's health was in danger then they would be taken off the game.
As mentioned, the final team to survive the challenge would win the show, and the one million dollar prize money would be divided amongst the remaining team members.
A brief recap of Outlast season 2
The 16 contestants were divided into groups of four. Tonia, Zach, Bayo, and Tre were part of Team Alpha. Emily, Drew, Drake, and Sammy were part of Team Bravo. Joey, Julio, Bri, and Meghan were part of Team Charlie. Finally, Joseph, Eric, Brendon, and Tina were part of the Delta camp.
