Dr. Will Kirby's journey on Big Brother season 2
On Big Brother season 2, Dr. Will Kirby was one of the strongest players who was aware of maintaining a great social game. During his time in the competition, Will was involved in a showmance with Shannon Dragoo, as well as in a strong alliance with Mike “Boogie” Malin.
The trio formed a separate alliance and used their strategy to evict the players who they considered a threat in the game. The "Chilltown alliance" helped him succeed in his game to a certain extent. Both his alliances were later evicted, and Will was the only remaining player from "Chilltown."
The Big Brother contestant was nominated for the eviction challenge and put on the block more than three times. Despite not writing Power of Veto or becoming the Head of the Household, Will won the competition series by a 5-1 jury vote.
Reflecting on his experience on Big Brother season 2 in 2001, when no social media existed, Dr. Will told Entertainment Weekly that his life "completely changed." He mentioned that being declared a winner of a well-esteemed reality TV show was a "bigger deal" in the earlier seasons. In the June 2022 EW interview, he said:
"Looking back now, it seems like a fever dream. Overnight, I went from being utterly broke and completely unknown to having money and fame. That was a really, really strange time in my life. So, yes, there was an adjustment period."
Talking about the main highlights of the show and his performance in the game, Dr. Will said he never won any of the 'Head of the Household' or the 'Power of Veto' competitions. For him, the most surprising aspect of the show was when he challenged the houseguests to vote him out. The former Big Brother contestant explained:
"Fans might recall that I'm not of the belief that being first in a competition matters much, so since I've never won a HOH or POV, the most memorable moment might be my "I hate you all speech" where I told my fellow houseguests to evict me. Even today, it is rather shocking that a plan that brazen worked."
