In an episode on Boyfriend Material, the Perfect Match season 2 cast member, Harry Jowsey opened up about his time participating in reality shows which began when he was only 19.

The first time the reality star appeared on television was as part of Heartbreak Island season 1 in 2018. Not only did the Perfect Match season 2 cast member participate in the dating show, he won the New Zealand dating reality show alongside Georgia Bryers, and won the grand prize of $100,000.

The reality star started the podcast by stating he wanted to talk about falling in love on reality dating shows and started with Heartbreak Island and said he looked like he hadn't eaten in "12 years" and didn't understand why he was cast. He joked about sending "raunchy photos to get on the show."

The Perfect Match season 2 cast member described his first reality show as a "big bowl of spaghetti with each strain being a different show."

"So I didn't think they even know what the f*ck it was like looking back, I was watching it I was like, are we meant to like win challenges, are we meant to be in love, what is going on, how does it work?"

He said the show was a social experiment and they had no outside contact. Harry Jowsey further added that the only people they were allowed to talk to were the other contestants and not even the production crew. The Perfect Match season 2 cast member added that they were told that a perfect person for them was also on the show and contestants started to believe it.

The Netflix star said they started living in a state of "delusion" and knew nothing about their partners except for what was told to them with no understanding of what was happening in the outside world.

Speaking of being on reality shows in general, Harry added that people often rekindle their relationships when the shows air since they relive those emotions that most people don't understand. The cast member said his biggest takeaway from being on the dating show was that he loved entertaining people.

"I love to not care about anything and go on there and have fun and make my friends laugh so that made me want to do more and more dating shows," he said.

Harry Jowsey is currently starring in Netflix's Perfect Match season 2 where he is paired up with Jessica. The show will air its season finale on Friday, June 21, 2024, on the streaming platform.
