Beast Games episode 5 was released on Thursday, January 9, 2025, showcasing nine contestants who "separated from the pack" to compete for a chance at winning a $1.8 million private island. The players participated in various games, which sent at least one person packing at the end of each round. One of the games, including coconuts, saw the elimination of players 672 and 514.
In the coconut challenge, the remaining eight contestants were each handed a coconut and were asked to throw it as close to the finish line as possible. However, if none of the coconuts went beyond the finish line, the players whose coconuts were the farthest from the line would get eliminated.
The journey of Timothy, player 672, on Beast Games, ended because his coconut not only crossed the finish line but also went way beyond it. Meanwhile, Jamal, player 514, got eliminated since his throw was the farthest from the finish line. Six players advanced to the next stage of the competition.
What happened during the coconut challenge in Beast Games episode 5?
After the players arrived at the game arena, Mr. Beast explained that they would take turns rolling or throwing their coconuts, hoping to get as close to the finish line as possible. The player whose coconut touched or crossed the finish line would immediately get eliminated from Beast Games. At the same, if none of the coconuts went past the finish line, the two farthest from it would get eliminated.
"The game ends when two people are gone," Mr. Beast added.
Player 895, Laric, was the first contestant to attempt a throw. His coconut landed close to the finish line but did not touch it. Laric was pleased with his throw and hoped no one outperformed him.
Next up, was Timothy, player 672, whose coconut not only crossed the line but also rolled down the island, landing on the beach. With that throw, Timothy's journey on Beast Games came to an end. Although he was upset, he couldn't do anything to help his situation.
The third person to attempt the task was Jamal, player 514. He believed his throw would save him from getting eliminated. When he saw that his coconut landed far from the finish line, he hoped it was enough to advance him to the next round.
After player 895 secured his spot in the next stage of the competitive series, it was player 711, Brennan's turn to throw his coconut. The Beast Games contestant's strategy was to roll the coconut so it would cover some distance without rolling off the track. His coconut crossed Jamal's, earning him a spot in the next round. Meanwhile, Jamal remained on the "chopping block" and at risk of going home.
Next up was player 952, Mia, who only needed to cross Jamal's coconut to save herself. Her kettlebell swing attempt was successful as it landed her coconut closer to the finish line than Jamal's.
Player 413's throw was the closest to the end line. After some inspection, Mr. Beast revealed that the throw was valid since it did not cross the line. Player 441, Harrison, and 457, Esteban, advanced to the next stage of the show by outperforming Jamal's throw.
As a result, Jamal not only lost the opportunity to compete for the island but also was eliminated from Beast Games. While reflecting on his exit, he said:
"It's so disappointing. It's just... I know that I could've done so much better if I just made any effort to make it close."
