RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 premiered exclusively on January 3, 2025, on MTV. In this reality TV series, drag queens compete with one another in various challenges to win the grand prize and title of America’s Next Drag Superstar. For the newly released January 24, 2025 episode, contestants had to recreate the iconic moments from the show by adding their own elements.
At the end of the performances, judges RuPaul Charles, Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, and Julia Schlaepfer revealed that Onya was declared the winner of the challenge. Meanwhile, Joella and Kori, the bottom two were sent to the lip-sync battle elimination challenge which was won by Kori. Hence Joella was eliminated in RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 episode 4.
Competing for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar are contestants Acacia Forgot, Arrietty, Crystal Envy, Hormona Lisa, Jewels Sparkles, Kori King, Lana Ja’Rae, Lexi Love, Lydia B Kollins, Onya Nurve, Sam Star, and Suzie Toot.

Joella was eliminated on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 episode 4
On RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 episode 4, the contestants had to recreate iconic moments or major highlights from the reality TV series. For this challenge, RuPaul divided the cast members into two teams to bring a twist of their own rather than exactly copying those scenes.
Furthermore, this time Ru or Michelle weren't directing those commercials like the past seasons. Hence each contestant had the liberty to showcase the dramatic moments in their own light and add different elements.
Volume 1 contestants included Lydia and Lana, Joella, Jewels, Arrietty, Hormona, and Crystal. Volume 2, on the other hand, consisted of Suzie, Sam and Acacia, Onya, Lexi, and Kori.
After the filming for the commercials on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 episode 4 wrapped up, RuPaul revealed that safety was granted to Lydia, Lana, Jewels, Hormona, Sam, Acacia, and Lexi after the runaway. The cast members at the bottom consisted of Joella, Kori, and Arrietty.
Julia pointed out that Joella should have been more energetic on stage, meanwhile, Arrietty was called out on her jewelry that outshined her performance. Michelle and Carson stated they were confused by the storytelling in Kori's singing performance. The top three drag queens were Crystal, Suzie, and Onya who Carson praised.
According to Carson, their teamwork was visible on stage after mentioning that Onya represented a "masterclass in stage presentation.” Towards the end of the episode, Onya was announced as the winner of the challenge as Joella and Kori were selected for elimination based on their performance.
Both Joella and Kori lip-synced on Buttons by the Pussycat Dolls during the Lip Sync for Your Life battle. Following the battle, Kori was able to save herself and stay in the competition as she impressed the judges which meant Joella was eliminated from the show.
