The Voice season 26: Jose Luis performed Olivia Rodrigo's traitor and chose Gwen Stefani as his mentor
Jose Luis' soulful performance of Olivia Rodrigo's traitor made all four judges turn their chairs. As soon as they saw Jose, The Voice audience started cheering on him. After the performance ended, Jose mentioned he wanted to be an artist similar to Lady Gaga, who has a strong stage presence.
He also shared how his music is impacted by his interest in fashion and pop culture in Puerto Rico. Luis talked about his dreams of becoming a well-renowned artist known for his originality and authenticity and embracing his love for fashion and pop music.
Meanwhile, Snoop complimented Jose on his vocal ability:
"I'm over here eatin' on this candy, but I'm sweet on your voice, you hear me. You sound amazing. That vocal was big, like movie big."
The Voice judge Michael Bublé called Luis' performance inspiring and praised his singing skills. Referring to his role as a mentor, Michael shared that he loves to meet people like Luis and help them, so whichever coach Luis would choose would bring out the best in Luis. He continued:
"I never want to leave this TV show because of people like you. You have a beautiful voice, and every single person sitting here is a Coach that can bring you so much. I'm so happy for you."
Stefani pointed out Luis' ability to relate to the lyrics and perform in such a way it feels like his own story. She called this quality a "power" which would help him move forward in the show. When Luis revealed he had chosen Stefani as his mentor, she was delighted. The coach said:
"I feel like you are taking the lyric and making it your story, if you're good at that, then that's how you keep moving forward on this show. I don't think we've heard anyone who has that kind of power. I'd love to be your Coach."
To follow Jose Luis' musical journey, stream The Voice season 26 exclusively on NBC every week on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c and the next day on Peacock TV.
