Episode 9 of Survivor season 47, titled Nightmare Fuel, aired on November 13. The castaways split into pairs for a critical multi-stage immunity challenge.
As they entered the tribal council, multiple names were thrown in for the vote-out. With the most votes to his name, the 43-year-old medical device salesman from Del City, Oklahoma, Solomon “Sol” Yi, was eliminated. He became the second member of the jury and would return at the finale to offer his share of judgment.
How did Sol Yi get eliminated in Survivor season 47 episode 9?
The castaways received a tree mail at the start of the Survivor season 47 episode 9, informing them that they had to make a team of two for the upcoming multi-stage immunity challenge. The pairing was deemed to be important as it would affect their immunity and would gain them tribal voting power.
Sol and Teeny Chirichillo teamed up, with other pairs being Gabe & Kyle, Sam & Andy, Sue & Genevieve, and Rachel & Caroline. The immunity challenge was tough, requiring contestants to clear a sand tunnel and retrieve puzzle steps. The slowest pair risked losing their tribal council vote but could regain it by winning the next challenge. Sol and Teeny successfully cleared the first stage, advancing to the next round.
The final stage was a solo competition where the Survivor 47 contestants had to balance on progressively smaller footholds. Gabe ultimately emerged victorious, securing himself immunity at the upcoming tribal council. Meanwhile, Sol and Teeny were among the four pairs rewarded with a picnic for their efforts.
As the pairs gathered for their picnic, discussions quickly turned to targeting potential threats. Initially, Sam's name circulated, but attention soon shifted to Sol. Genevieve, Gabe, and Kyle agreed to vote out the Survivor 47 contestant, viewing him as a serious threat to their games.
Knowing that he might maybe a target, Sol tried to divert the attention to Sue and confided in Teeny for support. Sam inserted himself in Sol's support and plotted to target Kyle, adding another name to the voting pool.
As the castaways gathered at the tribal council, Sol persistently pushed for Sue’s elimination. Frustrated by his insistence, Sue challenged Sol’s motives, questioning both his intentions and his role within the tribe’s dynamics.
Meanwhile, Teeny was torn between siding with her friend Sol and going along with the majority's plan. Ultimately, she chose to align with the majority, feeling heartbroken about having to vote out her friend.
When the votes were tallied, host Jeff Probst announced that Sol was had the most number of votes in his court. He became the ninth Survivor season 47 cast member to be eliminated and the second member of the jury.
