Selling Sunset wrapped up its 8th season in 2024. The Netflix reality show follows the lives of members of The Oppenheim Group, a real estate firm in Los Angeles. The group was founded by twin brothers Jason and Brett Oppenheim.
Season 8 of Selling Sunset premiered on Netflix on September 6, 2024, and released an 11-episode series that had opulent real estate properties, personal drama, and all the right notes of a reality TV show. The series also featured celebrities like Joey Essex, Deshaun Watson, and the famous D'Amelio family. The D'Amelio family is featured in episode 9 of the series.
Charli D'Amelio, the youngest in the D'Amelio family, is a popular social media star who rose to fame on TikTok. Mary introduced the D'Amelio family as 'the biggest TikTokers on the planet'. The D'Amelio family wanted to sell or rent out their place in Londonderry, therefore arrived Jason and Mary from Selling Sunset to their rescue.
Who is Charli D'Amelio and why she appeared on Selling Sunset season 8?
Charli D'Amelio, born on May 1, 2004, in Norwalk, Connecticut, is a TikTok star who rose to fame in March 2020 as the platform's most followed creator. She has been dancing since age three and gained popularity by posting dance and lip-sync videos on TikTok.
As of 2024, she has about 155.5 million TikTok followers and 43.4 million Instagram followers (@charlidamelio). Her family, including her mother Heidi, father Marc, and older sister Dixie, appeared in episode 9 of Selling Sunset.
In episode 9 of Selling Sunset, audiences are introduced to the D'Amelio family as Jason and Mary make their way to their luxurious house on Londonderry Place. Jason, the Selling Sunset star had listed the property for the D'Amelio family a few years back, and now they wanted to sell or rent it, to downsize, because Charli and Dixie had moved out of the house. The 9,267-square-foot house was listed at $11,995,000 and had four bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
Mary was confident that the house would be listed for a worthy price, especially because people are well aware of the D'Amelio family, and the house was marketable too. She said:
"Since the D'Ameios are so well-known and this house is so marketable, Jason and I really feel that we are going to sell it or rent it out before it even hist the market."
Jason asked the D'Amlios what were they looking for in their new house so that he could start looking for listings. He acknowledged that maybe they would love a similar kind of place, but smaller. Heidi D'Amelio had expressed that the kind of house wanted, was sort of unreal and non-existent. She said:
"I have a dream home. I am not sure it exists anywhere, but this is what I want. I want ocean front property with a big old farm in the back."
Jason exclaimed jokingly, that such property does not exist here and it would cost them around $100 million for such property. Charli also expressed what would be her dream home. She either wanted to have a place with nice weather all the time or in the middle of nowhere with millions of farm animals.
Jason and Mary appreciated the D'Amelio family for keeping the house in such great shape and promised to find them a suitable buyer.
Selling Sunset season 8 is streaming on Netflix now.
