More details on Deanna from The Mole's appearance on shows before season 2
In 2010, when Luka Magnotta anonymously posted a video of himself suffocating two kittens to death, Deanna from The Mole and other amateur internet users took it upon themselves to discover the identity of the person behind this heinous act.
Under the pseudonym Baudi Moovan, Deanna used her analytical skills to go after this man's identity. With the help of several other internet users, she was able to track the man down and bring him to justice for animal cruelty. They made this possible by organizing a Facebook group dedicated to the cause, where people who wished to contribute could join and help investigate.
In 2012, Luka was convicted of a separate crime—murdering a student named John Lin. In 2019, Netflix picked up their story and aired it as a docuseries titled Don't F**k with the Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer, featuring Deanna from The Mole, taking viewers through their 2010 investigation.
In the 2023 Vice series (Re)solved, Deanna from The Mole, alongside some professional investigators, reopened cases of some very popular celebrity deaths. This included the deaths of stars such as Heath Ledger, Prince, Avicii, John McAfee, and Anna Nicole Smith, among others.

Why can't Deanna Thompson not be The Mole in season 2?
Netflix asked each of the 12 players on the show why they couldn't be the mole and included their responses in the official player descriptions. According to Deanna, she can't be the mole because she is autistic.
She says,
"I am an absolutely terrible liar. This isn't a low-key brag… I wish I was better. I don't know if it has something to do with being autistic, but [I] always assumed that I lacked the nuance to do it well."
Episodes 9 and 10 of The Mole season 2 will be released on Friday, July 12, on Netflix.
