Joey started his Outlast season 2 journey being a part of Team Charlie besides Bri, Meagan, and Julio. He left Charlie's camp after his team was disbanded and went over to Team Delta to join them in episode 5. However, by episode 7 he was once again ready to change teams.

After learning that the teams would have to clear a final challenge to win the show, Joey started to restructure his final plans. He believed that Team Bravo was the stronger team in comparison to his team Delta. Without giving a second thought, Joey went over to join Bravo. The synopsis for episode 7 reads:

"Sick teammates pose risks to both camps. Drew and Drake cross the river to intimidate their competition, but things don't go as planned."

Both of the remaining Outlast Season 2 teams, received a message in episode 7. The message informed them that only 48 hours were left in the game and that they had to finalize their team before they could start their final challenge of the game.

In his confessional Joey said that Bravo was the stronger team and he'd had better chances of winning the show if he teamed up with the opposition team. Joey said:

"So I woke up this morning, and I'm processing the whole scenario. This is the last 48 hours. And honestly, after seeing Bravo, given these conditions, I know Bravo has the stronger team. And it sucks because this is a winning decision. Go to Bravo for a better chance."

Joey took Delta's boat without telling his team and went over to Bravo's camp. He said that there was a million dollars on the line and he had to do whatever he could to win it. He believed that Delta was not fit to compete and finish the final challenge.

In his confessional Joey shared all the reasons why his team was unfit. He said that Brendon's knee was not built for long-distance, high-intensity travel and his leg was pretty rough. According to him, Tina's energy was pretty low. In comparison to his team, he thought that Bravo had more of what it took to win the final challenge.

These reasons were enough for him to join Team Delta. However, Bravo turned down his proposal to join their team. They were wary of him as he had already changed the team once. While Drake and Drew told Joey that they wanted to "ride this thing together" and split the prize money between themselves.

Outlast season 2 star Joey's run in Team Delta

Joey joined Delta in Outlast season 2 episode 5. He pitched himself to the team and that he was a great asset, could pull his weight through, and would bring in all of his Team Charlie's remaining supplies. Delta accepted his offer and was welcomed into the team.

By episode 6 of Outlast season 2, Delta and Bravo were the only two teams left. Delta had five members on their team while Bravo had three. Joey wanted to check out Bravo's game plan and asked his teammates to check on them. However, Delta wanted to focus on their own game and did not care about Bravo.

Joey was a bit hurt that his team was not supporting him despite his good strategy of knowing about their competition. He took his binoculars and saw that Bravo was building some kind of a raft. He took this information to his team and convinced them to make a raft of their own when the time came to use it.

Delta took Joey's advice and built a raft from the remaining drop that was made in episode 5. The raft came in handy when the Outlast crew propped a boat near their camp. Delta member Joseph hopped onto their raft and secured the boat.

Joey competed in the final competition with Team Delta, however, they lost to Team Bravo.
