The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On Season 3 premiered on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Couples with conflicting ideas about marriage joined the experiment to find a resolution. One of them was Zaina and J.R. Zaina wanted to get married because she knew she was running out of time to have children. Hence, she issued an ultimatum to J.R., hoping he would realize the same.

In Episode 1, The Split, Zaina opened up about her fears to hosts, Nick and Vanessa Lachey. She confessed she would have had a different perspective if she were younger, however, as someone in her 30s, she was naturally concerned about her biological clock.

"Women do have a biological time clock. I'm considering freezing my eggs," Zaina said.

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On star hoped J.R. would change his mind and move on from his insecurities. Later in the episode when the couples were split and encouraged to speed date, both Zaina and J.R. found compatibility in different individuals.

At the start of the episode, Vanessa asked Zaina why she gave J.R. the ultimatum. Zaina explained that her perspective changed after she entered her 30s. She became aware of her biological time clock and knew she had to take action if she wished to have a family later.

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On star even considered freezing her eggs so she could still have children. Although she boasted about her compatibility with J.R., Zaina was upset that she had to issue an ultimatum to make him understand the importance of the situation.

"It's just really difficult to have to be here and have to issue an ultimatum to understand whether or not we wanna be together long-term," she said.

While reflecting on her relationship, Zaina admitted that everything about them "aligned so perfectly." She revealed that she met J.R. through a dating app and had been with him for almost three years. J.R. confessed that he was smitten at first glance, impressed by her ability to always find ways to "spice up life" for him.

Despite their chemistry, J.R. was unsure about marriage because of his past experiences. The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On star mentioned that he had been in several "bad relationships" including a failed marriage.

Despite knowing that Zaina was the "right person" for him, J.R. struggled to let go of his past and worried that he might have to experience another divorce in the future.

However, his stance bothered Zaina, who said:

"I know how much hurt that divorce impacted you. If we're not dating with the intent to get married, then what are we doing?"

Nick Lachey chimed in and said he resonated with J.R.'s hesitance. As someone who had experienced a divorce before, he could relate to the "hurt" and "scars" that existed from a failed marriage.

J.R. revealed that his previous marriage ended because of infidelity. As a result, his unwillingness to remarry grew and enhanced his insecurities at the same time. Since marriage was a life-long commitment, The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On star felt he needed to ensure he was marrying the right one.

Hearing that, Zaina said that she would have to walk away from the relationship if J.R. refused to get engaged by the end of the experiment.

Later in the episode, Zaina connected with Scotty while J.R. bonded with Sandy. Zaina and Scotty were both ultimatum givers and realized they had similar life expectations. Meanwhile, J.R. enjoyed Sandy's fun-loving personality and joked about having kids together. In a confessional, he mentioned that Sandy seemed like "trouble."
