While speaking to People Magazine on September 15, 2024, the Sister Wives star also discussed his divorce. He said wanted his children to find happiness after marriage and live with "joy and enjoyment."
Kody spoke about his son, Garrison, expressing regret about not taking more "advantage" to hang out with his son more often. He noted that he could have spent more time with his son, having a beer or dinner together.
“The only regret is just, take advantage of the time. I want to go out to dinner again. I want to sit down. I want to have a beer. I want [Garrison] to try and make me laugh because he was that way. The only regret is just, gosh, I would just do that more often," Kody said.

Before the premiere of season 19 of Sister Wives, Kody Brown shared how his perspective changed after his son Garrison Brown passed away in March 2024. Kody noted that he had made a few changes since Garrison's suicide, including prioritizing his family. He added that life was unpredictable, and one never knows when they will meet someone for the last time.
Kody also spoke about a trip he went on with his brothers, saying that he "almost didn't do it." However, the Sister Wives cast member claimed to have had a feeling that he should spend more time with his brothers. Brown went on to say that he didn't want any regrets in the future, which was why he said yes more often.
“Your life is filled with those moments, There was other things that were pressing, and I just said to myself, ‘What if this is the last time?'," he added.
He also opened up about the feeling of knowing not everyone will be here forever, he claimed that this helped him appreciate the small moments more. The Sister Wives cast member noted that it also encouraged him to spend more time with his children.
As of now, the reality TV star admitted to focusing on "healing" and moving forward while being mindful of his actions. He said that while there will "always be a moment" that he will regret not taking a step, he was on the path of healing and ensuring that he didn't have as much regret in the future.
“There will always be the moment you said, ‘I wish I would've taken advantage,’ and there's the regret. But see, that's all over now and everybody's healing. And so now we can move forward, and we can just take those steps that create less regret,” Brown said.
Kody Brown also discussed his divorce and the ups and downs he faced in his relationships. He said that he was sad about the way things ended between his wives, Meri, Janelle, and Christine, stating that the situation had become angry and messy.
