Tensions have flared between The Real Housewives of New York City (RHONY) star Brynn Whitfield and former Flipping Out personality Jeff Lewis, with the two exchanging pointed remarks on public platforms.
The feud began after Lewis made comments during his SiriusXM show, Jeff Lewis Live, suggesting Whitfield might be receiving financial support from a "sugar daddy." These comments were made while Lewis interviewed Whitfield’s The Real Housewives of New York City castmate Erin Lichy, who disagreed with his insinuations.
This sparked a series of public exchanges between Lewis and Whitfield, with each using media appearances to share their thoughts. The dispute escalated when Whitfield addressed the situation during the December 5 segment of Watch What Happens Live (WWHL) with Andy Cohen, reigniting the conflict and drawing fresh public interest.
“I have been quiet, on purpose. A lady doesn’t wrestle with pigs.” she said.
The Real Housewives of New York City: Brynn Whitfield's feud with Jeff Lewis, explained
Origin of the dispute
The controversy began when Jeff Lewis, during an episode of his show Jeff Lewis Live, commented on Whitfield's financial situation, implying that she might be receiving financial support from a "sugar daddy."
Erin Lichy, a fellow cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City (RHONY), was a guest on Lewis' show at the time. Although Lichy refuted Lewis' insinuations, the remarks created tension, which later surfaced on RHONY.
Whitfield, initially believing Lichy was complicit in the comments, addressed the matter during The Real Housewives of New York City's recent season. However, the narrative shifted when Lewis clarified on Watch What Happens Live that his comments were not intended to imply that Whitfield was an escort.
Despite this clarification, he did not issue an apology, maintaining his critique of Whitfield’s behavior on the show.
Whitfield’s public response
When Andy Cohen asked about the upcoming The Real Housewives of New York City reunion, Whitfield had a sharp response.
Clarifying that her statement referred to Lewis, Whitfield added:
"Jeff Lewis is a pig. I am ready to clear the air on many, many things."
During the same interview, guest Kathy Hilton inquired whether Lewis was part of the RHONY cast. Whitfield replied:
"No, I think he wishes though. He acts like he wants to be on it."
Lewis's reaction and current dynamics
In response, Lewis used his platform on Jeff Lewis Live to counter Whitfield's statements. He criticized her behavior on The Real Housewives of New York City, saying:
"I don’t find her to be a lady. I don’t even find her to be an adult. I think she acts like an oversexed teenager on that show. She flirts with other people’s spouses and partners and parents, and this is all I have said."
He also suggested that Whitfield’s actions appeared attention-seeking:
"It seems to me like she’s very desperate for attention and, by the way, the audience is turning on her and the things that I said are really indefensible."
The feud remains unresolved, with both parties continuing to express their perspectives. Fans are now looking forward to the The Real Housewives of New York City Season 15 reunion, set to air early next year, where Whitfield is expected to address these comments further.
