"You cannot involve your mom" - Love is Blind Habibi star Chafiq expresses his frustration over Dounia's close relationship with her mom

Love is Blind Habibi premiered on Netflix on October 10. The reality show allowed Arabian singles to find love that looked past the looks of a person. Some of the couples got engaged through the experiment and were preparing for their upcoming wedding day.

A week before their marriage, Chafiq expressed his concerns that Daunia wasn't serious about their marriage. Dounia acknowledged that marriage was a big thing and they had to make an important decision. However, she felt that marriage meant that she would have to leave her mother's hand.

Chafiq, however, was frustrated by Dounia's closeness to her mom and advised her not to involve her mom in every aspect of her life. He told Dounia:

"When something goes on between us, something wrong between me and you, it's between me and you. You cannot involve your mom. There is something between you and your mom you have to cut."

Love is Blind Habibi star Chafiq expresses his concerns over Daunia's unseriousness toward their marriage

At the end of Love is Blind Habibi episode 7, just six days before their wedding, Chafiq and Daunia opened up about their nerves surrounding the big day. When Chafiq asked Daunia how she felt about the wedding, she replied that while she was excited about it, there was also lingering stress surrounding it.

After expressing his side of the stress to Dounia, Chafiq said in his confessional:

"Over the last week, Dounia and I, we've been fighting a lot. We have to open our hearts more before the marriage because it's a big decision and a very big step."

Love is Blind Habibi star then told Dounia that deciding on marriage was a big decision for him and his life would change after it. While Dounia shared that it was a big commitment for her as well, Chafiq felt he was experiencing "more pressure" and that his fiancée looked "too relaxed" in comparison.

Dounia explained that she’s "not the type of person who expresses a lot" and acknowledged having her "moments" of stress in the relationship, but emphasized that she doesn’t hold onto them. Chafiq, however, was confused by Dounia's reasoning and explained to her the seriousness of the situation. Love is Blind Habibi star told Dounia:

"I think you don't get how big it is to get [married]... I mean, now your name changes, so you'll be under my name... You are in front of God to get married, so you have to know 100... Because me, I'm not going to ever divorce in my life. So you have to know what's going to wait for you."

Dounia responded by expressing her understanding of the significance of marriage. She expressed that, to her, a future husband should be her best friend, a father figure, and everything in her life. She added:

"Because, um, we come from different backgrounds. Me, I come from a background where my mom was my dad and my mom and everything for me... I have a broken shoulder, and that shoulder is supposed to be my dad, okay?"

Dounia delved into her father' absence and the importance of her mother in her life. She shared in her confessional that there was "no person in this world" who could take her mother's place and separate her from her mother.

The Love is Blind Habibi contestant told Chafiq that there were moments in her life when her heart was broken due to her father's absence. Meanwhile, her mom was always by her side and supported her through her life. She told Chafiq:

"I feel like... Like, what's my mom told you, I'm a baby, and I'm going to get out of her hands to be in your hands."

While Chafiq understood the significance of Dounia's mom in her life, he felt she shouldn't involve her in their relationship matters. He further added in his confessional:

"I wanted to take her in my arms, but at this time I cannot. Like my heart was telling me "go," while my head's telling me "don't." Because I think, in the relationship, we're three."
