Dancing With The Stars season 33 finale premiered on November 26, 2024, on ABC. The episode welcomed back all the eliminated duos for one last dance performance.
Anna Delvey and her dance partner Ezra Sosa were one of the returning pairs, and they performed next to Tori Spelling and Pasha Pashkov to Whitney Houston's hit song I Have Nothing.
The song choice paid homage to Delvey's memorable elimination interview with host Julianne Hough. Adding a dramatic touch, Delvey even mouthed the lyrics during her performance.
In that interview, Hough asked the contestant what she would take away from the experience, to which Delvey replied that she would take "nothing" from the dancing show. Hough recalled the comment during the finale episode and poked Delvey a bit, saying:
"You know, I've got nothing," the DWTS host said.
Delvey had an awkward smile on her face in reaction to Hough's comment.
Dancing With The Stars cast's reaction to Anna Delvey's elimination interview
Anna Delvey and her dance partner Ezra Sosa were among the first pairs to get eliminated from the show, alongside Tori Spelling and her partner Pasha Pashkov.
Their last performance was on Dancing with the Stars season 33 episode 2, during Oscars Night, where Delvey and Sosa danced to the Devil Wears Prada theme song, KT Tunstall's Suddenly I See.
Through their performance, Sosa tried to showcase Delvey's detached demeanor. He playfully worked around it, even stretching his partner's lips from both sides during the performance to create a forced smile.
After the pair were eliminated, Dancing With The Stars host Julianne Hough asked Delvey what she would be taking away from her experience on the show, and the season 33 contestant humorously replied that she would be taking "nothing." Meanwhile, her dancing partner had a smile on his face although he was seemingly taken aback by the comment.
Co-host Alfonso Ribeiro quickly chimed in the conversation and quipped that the contestant "had fun" on the show and that was all that mattered.
On September 26, right after their elimination episode, Hough shared a clip of her interview with Delvey on Instagram. Praising Delvey's unforgettable response, Hough described it in the caption as "ICONIC."
Further, Sosa commented under the post defending his partner, as he wrote that he felt Delvey answered in terms of what she would be "physically" taking away from the show.
“I think she was referring to anything you’d be taking away ‘physically,’” Sosa commented.
However, Dancing With the Stars 33 judge Carrie Ann Inaba was "taken aback" by Delvey's departing comment. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly published on September 25, Inaba said:
"That was dismissive not only of the opportunity she was given, of her wonderful and supportive partner Ezra in his debut season, but also of all of us who work on the show-from the dancers to behind the scenes to the creative team."
The judge added that the entire crew and cast put a lot into giving Delvey a "fair opportunity." However, Inaba believed that the DWTS season 33 contestant couldn't see that and called it a "shame." She added that a "little gratitude" toward the given opportunity could have changed Delvey's narrative.
Further, Inaba was asked if she felt that fans eliminated Delvey because of her past as a con artist, to which she answered that their audience voted according to what felt right to them.
"That’s the beauty of DWTS for our fans. Our fans are passionate and engaged and they vote for who they want to win the Mirrorball trophy... Our fans don’t vote people off... Our fans vote for who they want to win," Inaba concluded.
