Love is Blind: UK debuted on Netflix on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Cast members from various walks of life participated in the unique experiment hoping to walk away with a partner for life.
They resorted to having deep and insightful conversations to get to know the person sitting in the pod before them. Since they developed feelings for each other without being able to see the appearance of the person they interacted with, the experiment proved that love was truly blind. One such couple was Freddie and Catherine.
In episode 3, Freddie's feelings for Catherine peaked, and he professed his love to her, ultimately asking her to be his wife.
"I know what I feel in my heart is real and I know that I'm for you. And I do feel like that you're the person I was destined to be with," confessed Freddie.
The Love is Blind: UK couple's journey began in episode 1 when Freddie connected with Catherine after multiple failed attempts to form a relationship with the other women. On the other hand, Catherine weighed her options by bonding with two men, Freddie and Ollie.
However, Catherine ended her relationship with Ollie in episode 2 upon discovering his stronger connection with castmate Demi.
"It's written in the stars" — Love is Blind: UK star Freddie's take on his connection with Catherine
Freddie was a funeral director by profession, an occupation many women in the experiment found gory. The Love is Blind: UK cast member confessed women often lost interest in him once they figured out what he did for a living. Coming into the show, he wanted to find himself a wife who he could love throughout life.
Catherine initially bonded with Ollie and Freddie. However, Ollie seemed to have a stronger connection with Demi. As a result, Catherine stopped pursuing Ollie to give Demi a fair chance at love. She then directed all her attention to Freddie.
The duo grew closer to each other in episode 2 after they confided in each other about the hardships in life. Freddie revealed he grew up with a brother who had Down Syndrome, while Catherine confessed she was adopted.
In episode 3, Catherine admitted she "hit the jackpot" by forming a connection with Freddie. As their relationship progressed, Freddie knew it was time to pop the big question. He professed his love to Catherine, requesting her hand in marriage.
On one of their dates, Freddie said:
"I'm trying to say that I love you."
He added that he felt "at ease" with her. His nerves vanished once he talked to her. He was "absolutely buzzing" to have met someone like Catherine, and hoped they could continue their relationship. His feelings for the Love is Blind: UK cast member were so strong, he got goosebumps.
He couldn't believe he forged a romantic connection with someone he had not met, which made him realize that love was truly blind. As he professed his feelings to her, Catherine was moved to tears.
"I just want you to know that I feel like the connection we've made is, I've not, I've not experienced that before, and I've got nothing else on my mind. It's just you," said Freddie.
He added that their connection was "written in the stars" since he dreamed about meeting Catherine one day. He claimed he was in love with her despite not experiencing the "basics" of a relationship with her.
"I look forward to all the little things. The first time our eyes connect, the first time we touch, and the first time I kiss your lips. These are all basics that I haven't even experienced with you yet. But I can confidently already say that I love you," said Freddie.
He expressed his excitement about starting the next phase of his life with her. The Love is Blind: UK cast member then went down on one knee and proposed to his "Jersey girl." Catherine accepted his proposal with teary eyes.
Love is Blind: UK is currently available to stream on Netflix.
