10 best Prime Video TV shows of 2024

Prime Video released a gamut of shows in 2024. And while the new year is here and there are many highly anticipated series that will release in 2025, let's take a moment and look back at some of the most popular shows that premiered on the platform in the previous year of 2024.

The streaming platform has always offered a wide variety of entertainment to its audiences and in 2024 too, there were some hit shows from diverse categories.

From the faithful adaptation of the video game, Fallout, to a modern twist on the spy duo of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, here are some of the best series of 2024.


Secret Level, The Boys, and other best shows from Prime Video in 2024

1) Fallout

Based on the video game franchise by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, Fallout, is a post-apocalyptic drama series on Prime Video that stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, and others.

The series is set in a world where a nuclear war has led to society where survivors live in fallout bunkers.

The survivors are unaware that a company is performing sociological and psychological experiments on them. When Lucy’s father is kidnapped by wasteland raiders, she decides to head out of the bunker and meets a squire and a bounty hunter on the way.

The series is an action-packed smash hit and unmissable.


2) The Boys

A series that inverts and lampoons the superhero genre, The Boys, is based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Starring Karl Urban, Anthony Starr, Jack Quaid, and others, the show’s fourth season was released to critical and audience approval in 2024 on Prime Video.

The show continues to expand on its storyline where Urban, Quaid, and other Misfits, continue to try and expose the elite superhero group, The Seven—a group where superheroes abuse their powers and work for a corrupt company.

The series is raucous, clever, hilarious, and an essential watch.


3) The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s history of Middle-Earth and material from the appendices of The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) novel, this fantasy series is set thousands of years before the events of the LOTR novel.

Developed by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the show depicts the origins of the Rings of Power.

The show is one of the most expensive series ever made in collaboration with Amazon and does not continue the LOTR and The Hobbit film trilogies.

The show’s second season premiered in 2024 on Prime Video and has received an enthusiastic response from viewers. A must-watch fantasy series.


4) The Pasta Queen

A show for all the food lovers, The Pasta Queen, is a thirteen-episode show that premiered in 2024 and stars the famous Nadia Caterina Munno.

After authoring an NY Times bestselling book and garnering millions of fans on social media with her authentic cooking and quirky style, Munno comes back with a show that sees her travel through her roots in Italy.

She begins by exploring the famous regions of Italy like Puglia, Lazio, and Campania. On each of her quests, she makes a few classic dishes from the region in her kitchen and adds her own personal touch.

The show is all about food, bonding, culture, and love. A must-watch show.


5) Secret Level

Created by Tim Miller, Secret level, is an animated anthology series that premiered in 2024 in two parts on Prime Video and has piqued the curiosity of several viewers.

The unique show has fifteen episodes and each episode is inspired by a classic video game and the show then creates its own twist.

Some of the video games referenced in the series include Pac-Man, Dungeons & Dragons, and the series also features the voices of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, Keanu Reeves, and more.

Some of the episodes are dark and all of them are cleverly done. A must-watch for video game buffs.


6) Citadel: Diana

The Italian counterpart to the hit series, Citadel, the show Citadel: Diana, premiered on Prime Video in 2024 and is developed by Alessandro Fabbri.

Starring Matilda De Angelis, Maurizio Lombardi, Julia Piaton, and others, the show is full of action and thrills.

The show is about Diana, an undercover agent with the spy agency Citadel. When the agency is destroyed by the syndicate Manticore, Diana is trapped and with no one to help. Except, the heir of Manticore, Edo Zani, who can help her out.


7) Cross

Starring Aldis Hodge, Ryan Eggold, and others, Cross, is a crime thriller series based on the novel series by James Patterson.

Created by Ben Watkins, it released in 2024 and revolves around a forensic psychologist and homicide detective, Cross (Hodge), who catches dangerous killers along with his partner, detective John.

Amidst all this, Cross has to also make sure his family is safe as he tackles the criminal underworld.

He is almost taking a break from police work, after the murder of his wife. But when a Black Lives Matter activist is killed, he comes back and begins to spiral into a world of crime. A must-watch.


8) Mr. & Mrs. Smith

This spy series offers its own twist to the 2005 movie of the same name, from which it is inspired. Starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, the show released on Prime Video in 2024 and its showrunner is Francesca Sloane.

Two strangers under the aliases of John (Glover) and Jane (Erskine) have to live undercover as a married couple while also carrying out a series of missions.

The agents navigate a world of crime, espionage, and love, as their chemistry is palpable and a fake relationship begins to seem real. Highly recommended.


9) Batman: Caped Crusader

Starring the voices of Hamish Linklater, Mckenna Grace, Christian Ricci, and others, this animated superhero series is developed by Bruce Timm and based on the popular DC Comics character, Batman.

The show premiered on Prime Video in 2024 and revolves around a young Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting in Gotham City.

The show has a stylized and noir feel to it and is inspired by the Batman comics of 1940s and 1950s. The period series also addresses themes like corruption and offers a complex portrayal of its characters. The series has thus won critical acclaim and is unmissable.


10) My Lady Jane

A historical fantasy romance, My Lady Jane, is created by Gemma Burgess and is based on a novel by Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton, and Cynthia Hand.

The series premiered on Prime Video in 2024 and offers a reimagining of the life of Lady Jane Grey.

The series is set in an alternate history of 16th century England, where Jane is coerced into marriage with Lord Dudley. The show also plays with fantasy and portrays a world where humans can take animal form.

The real-life Lady Jane is known as the nine days Queen who sat on the throne of England and Ireland. The series is a chaotic but unique watch.
