How was Andre McDonald arrested?

On the morning of March 1, 2019, Andreen McDonald was reported missing by her mother as she failed to attend her meeting with her trainer. While her upscale home in San Antonio showed signs of foul play, search parties kept looking for her. Her skeletal remains were found by Clifton Klabunde in a field six miles away from the McDonald home on July 11, 2019.

The medical examiner's office determined severe injuries on the body, including a broken rib, a split jaw, and a fractured spinal cord. The officers discovered the murder weapon with blood evidence of Andreen from the garbage in the couple's home. Moreover, the backyard of the house had a burn pile as well.

As the investigation progressed, the Bexar County Sheriff's Department found a torn-up receipt from Lowe's store, and the surveillance footage from the place showed Andre purchasing items such as trash bags, a hatchet, an axe, shovel, gloves, and two 5-gallon gas tanks, per CBS News.

Where is Andre McDonald now?

The Air Force Reserve Major, Andre McDonald, was arrested on lesser charges of tampering with evidence on March 3, 2019, per News4 San Antonio. He was charged with the murder of Andreen McDonald after her remains were discovered in July 2019.

While Andre was scheduled for his hearing, he confessed to the crime to his sister-in-law, Cindy Johnson, on January 20, 2023. According to KSAT, Andre called her up and wished to deliver the truth to her and Maureen. Andre confessed to arguing with Andreen over having his name omitted from the business paperwork over the 41-minute phone call.

Cindy testified in court, sharing that he described how he killed Andreen in front of their autistic daughter, Alayna, sharing,

“He plunged her to the ground (and) used his foot to stomp her...[He] take off her clothes and burned it and put her body in the car. He took the body where it was found."

However, the coroner's office determined that the injuries that Andreen suffered suggested more than stomping. According to CBS News, Andre McDonald resorted to self-defence as the motive behind the crime and was subsequently not found guilty of murder. He was convicted of manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison with eligibility for parole after 7.5 years.

According to the Texas Department of Corrections, Andre McDonald is under a County Bench Warrant and will be eligible for parole in 2030.
