Starring Travis Fimmel, Jessica Barden, Emily Watson, and others, Dune: Prophecy is a sci-fi series based on the novels by Frank Herbert and is a prequel to the Denis Villeneuve movies. Developed by Diane Ademu-John and Alison Schapker, the series takes place 10,000 years before the events of the movies and revolves around the origins of the Bene Gesserit.
The first season has received positive reviews and was released on November 17, 2024. The series includes political intrigue, stunning visuals, and high-octane action. Valya, Kieran, and other best characters from Dune: Prophecy
1) Empress Natalya Arat
Played by Jodhi May, she is Javicco’s wife and opposes the Bene Gesserit as it creates a strong influence on the Emperor. Natalya is a shrewd character in Dune: Prophecy who does not trust Javicco. Her personality has many layers, and May provides subtle and excellent facial expressions that bring Natalya’s persona to the viewers. Natalya is an important character in the series.
2) Sister Theodosia
Theodosia is introduced to the viewers as an acolyte and is, therefore, ambitious. Her special talent and genius make her the perfect choice for Valya, who picks her from other students. Played by Jade Anouka, Theodosia keeps to herself, which makes her character mysterious. But she is a loyal and capable character and quickly becomes Valya’s favorite in Dune: Prophecy.
3) Kieran Atreides
Played by Chris Mason, Kieran is a descendant of the founder of the House of Atreides, Vorian Atreides, and is one of the few survivors of the clan. The character is an able swordmaster and rebels against the royal court. He is also a threat to Valya Harkonnen and is an emotional and fiery character. Mason perfectly portrays Kieran’s passion, and the character is important in Dune: Prophecy.
4) Valya Harkonnen
Played by Emily Watson and Jessica Barden, Valya is the protagonist of Dune: Prophecy. She belongs to the Harkonnen family and is proud of her lineage. Her only goal growing up was to clear her family’s name from shame and make it a great power again.
As the Mother Superior, she is extremely intelligent and knows how to read people, manipulate them, and get her job done by them. Her character’s arc is interesting as she has shades of bravery and villainy in her.
5) Desmond Hart
Hart is the survivor of the rebel attack on Arrakis and is played by Travis Fimmel in Dune: Prophecy. Hart has supernatural powers and can read people’s intentions. Even though much of his past is under wraps, which makes his personality enigmatic, he still comes across as a charismatic leader and is an excellent soldier. Hart hates The Sisterhood, and his influence over the Emperor makes him arrogant and vengeful.
