5 bizarre details about Eric Hill and Rosa Hill’s relationship in Netflix's Worst Ex Ever

Season one episode three of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix tells the not-so-romantic tale of Eric Hill and Rosa Hill. What started as a happy marriage, turned out to be a disaster for Eric Hill as Rosa and Mei (Rosa’s daughter) plotted to kill Eric’s entire family, to get the custody of Eric’s daughter back.

Rosa and Mei killed 91-year-old Selma Hill (Eric's grandmother) on January 7, 2009. They also attacked Eric, however the cops arrived on time to save the night. On July 28, 2012, Rosa and Mei were sentenced to 25 years to life for killing Selma and trying to murder Eric Hill.

Season one episode three of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix, titled, Killing for Custody aired on August 28, 2024, and the synopsis for the same reads as:

1) Rosa’s behavior was seemingly odd

As revealed in Worst Ex Ever on Netflix, every time Eric’s father Gregory Hill would ask Rosa something, she would whisper the answer into Eric’s ear instead of saying it directly to his father. Eventually, everyone thought she was shy. Whenever Rosa was on the phone, she would just be the one listening. It seemed like she had a code word for her answers and she was always weirded out, whenever she was talking to someone.

After the marriage, the couple went to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Rosa was always agitated as Eric revealed on Worst Ex Ever and even after their marriage she was stressed out. While the couple were celebrating their honeymoon, Rosa lost her calm and threw a punch at Eric, which she missed. This was the first time, Eric saw the violent side of Rosa, which bothered him. However, he did not know how violent she would get in the days to come.

After the marriage for a few months, Rosa developed jealousy and possessiveness. Eric was not allowed to meet his friends and family. Although Eric was unable to meet his grandmother, Sally, he had a great affection for her. Eric began to isolate himself from everyone around him, which led to his becoming a recluse and developing mental health problems.

After Eric sued Rosa for their daughter's custody in 2007 because he was stopped from meeting her, Rosa sent an email to Eric’s office stating that he was going to shoot the place up as he had stopped his depression meds. After this fake email, Eric was suspended for some time. Later, a doctor cleared him, after which he went back to work.

Just because Eric wanted to see his daughter, Rosa became jealous and made allegations saying Eric was se*ually abusing his 2-year-old daughter. However, things did not play well for her as Eric proved his innocence and got full custody of his daughter in the days to come.
