Netflix’s new true crime limited docuseries titled Caught in the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas examines the shadowy aspects of the internet through the escort listing website Zona Divas. The narrative explores a sinister story of how Zona Divas, an internet escort service, took advantage of the women it featured.
Zona Divas, according to Brenda, who is featured in the docuseries, was formed by El Soni, El Tony, and several Argentinian women working at strip clubs. This four-part docuseries explores the life behind lenses in Mexico and features testimonies from victims, their families, and people who were linked to this website.
The official synopsis of the show as per Netflix reads,
"In Mexico City's dark underbelly, women seeking better lives become entangled in an online escort network, unaware it will lead to a series of femicides."

Five details about the Zona Divas
1) Candice had daunting encounters with the clients
As revealed on Caught in the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas, one of the clients summoned Candice, a victim featured on the show and a member of Zona Divas, to his hotel room. She found the client seated in a chair as she entered the space. He remained silent for the whole time.
He only motioned for Candice to undress and gazed at her for forty-five minutes while she lay in bed without clothes. Candice spent forty-five minutes lying on the bed, terrified of what would happen to her due to the eerie circumstances. It was the most difficult and repulsive moment of her life as she described it.
On the show, while describing this experience among many, she says -
"You can have a hundred clients but one single sketchy guy can spell disaster for you."
2) The women had their freedom compromised
Daniela, another girl previously listed on the site, revealed in the docuseries that the site owners made them record a video in which they had to confirm that they would work for the site for three months upon arrival.
Those three months formed the hardest time of their lives as their documents, passports, and everything they owned were taken away. They could not go out as per their wish and were only allowed to use the car and the driver that the agency provided.
3) Wendy was found beaten up and dead
Pedro Goncalves (Consul of Venezuela) said on the show that he came to know from Wendy's mother that she had found an article in which she read that -
"A young woman’s body had been found at some hotel...."
Her daughter was missing for days. She also prayed after reading the above-mentioned newspaper article and said,
"I hope it’s not my daughter."
However, when Pedro Goncalves went to identify the body, he discovered that it was Wendy. When Mr. Ignacio (the owner of the site) was asked if the girls died (other than Wendy, there were five more victims) because of the malpractices of the site, he said that it was not the site. He said,
"Sadly they (girls) are dead due to other situations …"
4) Daniela and Wendy received death threats
Daniela disclosed in Caught on the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas that she and her friend decided to resign after their three-month escort contract expired. They went to Puebla on a Sunday. The girls were then threatened and informed that they would have to leave the country or face death if they did not agree to work with Zona Divas once more after they were banned from the website.
5) El Soni was a monster
As revealed by Daniela, whenever there were any kind of issues that the victims faced, they were banned immediately. To lift the ban, they had to engage in drugs and forced s*xual activity.
As per the show, there was a rumor that Soni aka Ignacio Antonio Santoyo had some kind of STD and despite that, he forced the girls on his sites to have unprotected intercourse. He would often force them, claiming that he is the kingpin and there is no one above him.
