The Boys prequel: Vought Rising is the upcoming series set in The Boys universe. Details about tge series were announced at SDCC 2024. Set in the 1950s, focusing on the early days of Vought Corporation, The Boys prequel follows Soldier Boy and Clara Vought (known to some as Stormfront) in a twisted murder mystery during the formative years of Vought.

Starring Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront, The Boys prequel is regarded as a show that feels like "L.A. Confidential with superheroes," so viewers can expect a noir tale with murky characters and dark themes. The Boys prequel will also go into how Compound V was developed in the first place, courtesy of Vought, and the ethical missteps taken by its founders.

Ahead of this hugely anticipated The Boys prequel: Vought Rising, fans have much to speculate on regarding which origin stories will be delved into about these endearing characters.

The rich, twisted universe that Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson built offers a glut of exciting backstories ripe for further investigation. While The Boys has given us the biggest glimpse so far into this dark and complex world of Vought International and its superpowered creation, The Boys prequel has the potential to go deeper into the origin stories of the most compelling of characters.

Five character origin stories fans would love to see in The Boys prequel: Vought Rising

1. Soldier Boy

Soldier Boy, in the comic books, is a legacy title held by several people throughout history.

He was introduced in Season 3 of The Boys. Soldier Boy (played by Jensen Ackles), created by Vought with the help of Compound V to be a hero during World War II, was used mainly for propaganda and didn't see a lot of fighting action.

In the series, he's found alive and becomes a major threat because of his immense powers and unstable nature. His storyline exposes the dark history of Vought and the rise of Compound V.

2. Stormfront

Played by Aya Cash, she was the new member of The Seven in Season 2. First introduced as a social media-savvy Supe, this character was later revealed to be a former Nazi — the first successful test case of Compound V.

Once known as Liberty, the adoption of the Stormfront moniker allows her to move through modern times and kind of blend in there with her secret immortality.

It's the relationship she has with Homelander and her eventual fall from grace after her Nazi past is exposed, which propels the series forward in its entirety. She gets brutally battered because of Ryan, Homelander's son, whom she finally kills.

3. Frederick Vought

Frederick Vought was a former Nazi scientist who defected to the United States post-World War II and founded Vought International. Though his name doesn't appear much in the series, his legacy and Compound V are at the core around which the show's story revolves.

His vision and the ethical compromises built the foundation for the creation of superheroes and the rise of Vought.

4. Queen Maeve

One of the main and most powerful members of The Seven, Queen Maeve is a very powerful superhero created by Vought with superhuman strength, durability and agility, all taken from Compound V. She started as an idealistic hero before becoming disillusioned with the corruption of Vought.

In the TV series, she's portrayed by Dominique McElligott. Maeve wrestles with her conscience against Homelander until she finally sacrifices herself to stop Soldier Boy, proving heroism and redemption.

5. Edgar Stillwell

Principal to Giancarlo Esposito, Edgar is a high-ranking executive at Vought International. Officially, while Edgar Stillwell from the comic series hasn't yet made his appearance in the show, Stan Edgar is the character replacement for the role.

He can be seen as an insidious, manipulative man regarding interest, mostly oriented towards the company at all costs. His strategic and smart way of handling The Seven makes him a very dangerous figure.

These origin stories from the comics set in full relief the characters and their actions in the world of The Boys.

With the mystery of Vought International and their superpowered operatives to be paraded ahead, The Boys prequel firmly secures a place in very recent memory as one of the most highly anticipated prequels.
