Stranger Things is a critically acclaimed American science fiction horror drama television series created by the Duffer Brothers for Netflix. The show first premiered on July 15, 2016, and has since spanned four seasons, with the fifth and final season expected in the coming year.

Directed by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things boasts an ensemble cast led by Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Joe Keery. The series has received widespread praise, earning an 8.7/10 rating on IMDb and a 91% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

With its storylines, characters, and nostalgic 80s setting, Stranger Things has amassed a fanbase eager to learn more about the characters they feel deserved better fates, including Eddie Munson, Chrissy Cunningham, Barb Holland, Lucas Sinclair, and Joyce Byers. Season 4 was released in 2022.

Here are 5 top Stranger Things characters who deserve a better ending

1) Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn)

In Stranger Things Season 4 (2022), we meet Eddie Munson, who runs the D&D club at Hawkins High. He's got a lot going on, dealing with some tough stuff from his past. And when Chrissy, the cheerleader, gets killed in his trailer, everyone jumps to blame him, even though he's just trying to look out for his friends.

Even though he is on the run and dealing with the town's hate, Eddie ends up sacrificing himself to help take down Vecna, the big bad of the season. Eddie never gets the chance to graduate, prove his innocence, and live a regular life.

Maybe they could have developed Eddie more by diving deeper into his backstory, exploring his relationships with other characters, and giving him a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the town by letting him survive.

2) Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien)

In Stranger Things Season 4 (2022), we meet Chrissy Cunningham, the cool head cheerleader at Hawkins High. But little did everyone know, she was dealing with heavy issues at home and battling an eating disorder.

Sadly, Chrissy was the first one to fall victim to Vecna's curse brutally and disturbingly. Chrissy could have been giving her some extra screen time to dive into her character, her connections with other characters, and her journey to conquer her inner demons.

3) Barb Holland (Shannon Purser)

Barb Holland showed up in Stranger Things Season 1 (2016) as Nancy Wheeler's BFF. Sadly, she got neglected and taken out by a Demogorgon when she was left solo at a shindig. Barb's passing got brushed aside with all the hype about Will going missing, but she deserved more recognition and closure.

Barb could have been fleshed out more by giving her a bigger role in the story, delving into her bond with Nancy, and letting her be more involved in the investigation and battle against supernatural entities.

4) Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin)

Lucas Sinclair has been on Stranger Things since Season 1 back in 2016. His friends always give him a hard time for being practical, but he's just looking out for them. Lucas has dealt with racism and other tough situations that his friends don't get.

He could have had more understanding and support from them, along with more chances to show off his bravery and leadership abilities.

5) Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder)

Joyce Byers has been a big part of Stranger Things since Season 1 back in 2016. As a single mom, she's been through a lot, always stressing about her kids Will and Jonathan. With everything she's gone through, like losing her boyfriend Bob, Joyce deserves peace with her family.

She's always been there for her loved ones, putting her love and determination at the forefront of many big moments in the show. It's about time she gets a break from all the craziness and danger.

Stranger Things season 4 is only on Netflix. The last season was pushed back to 2025 because they're trying to wrap things up properly.
