Dateline NBC is all set to bring forth the story of Akia Eggleston's murder, which shook Baltimore in 2017. The case remains as intriguing as ever now because Akia's body was never found and many things about the murder were never deciphered. Meanwhile, Michael Robertson, who claimed to have last seen her, changed the date when he last saw her alive, leading to the first shreds of suspicion about him.
Moreover, Akia was taking out money for a down payment on a house, possibly because she believed that she and Michael would move in together, but the latter did not really have the same intention.
2) Akia Eggleston was eight months pregnant at the time
Akia, who was already a mother of one, got pregnant with Michael Robertson's child in 2017. She disappeared when she was eight months pregnant. In fact, her family grew concerned only after she failed to turn up for her child's gender reveal party.
3) Michael Roberts was allegedly having an affair at the time of Akia's disappearance
Though Akia Eggleston was already eight months pregnant with his child, Michael was allegedly having an affair with another 22-year-old woman, with whom he also shared two children.

Michael also admitted that he intended to continue his relationship with his former partner. Moreover, he also claimed that after their fight, Akia had packed his belongings, which he took as a hint and left.
He claimed that he never saw Akia again, but his narratives had several flaws.
4) Michael Roberts googled suspicious things, which became key in prosecuting him
As there was no evidence because of the missing body, it took a long time to crack this case. However, in 2022, the case was officially rebranded to a homicide. Following this, the police looked at the clues left behind by Michael, apart from his obvious motive.
They found out that he googled some suspicious things, including where garbage goes and what happens after the garbage is disposed of. All this combined led to his arrest based on circumstantial evidence in February 2022.
5) Michael Roberts was charged and sentenced on the basis of circumstantial evidence
Though this does not happen often, Roberts was charged with the murder of Akia Eggleston based on circumstantial evidence even though the body was never found. Even though there were many loose threads in the case, Roberts was found guilty by the jury and sentenced to two life terms for the murders of Akia Eggleston and her unborn child, Anubis.
