5 Chilling details about Alisha Canales-McGuire’s murder in episode 4 of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix

Alisha Canales-Mcguire was shot several times on September 20, 2017, by Jerradon Phelps, which resulted in her death. She was slain at her sister Amanda's doorstep in the middle of the night while babysitting Amanda's children. The killers came with a different motive; however, the real deal failed.

Post Alisha's murder, Amanda's ex-husband, Kevin Lewis, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and sentenced to life in 2021. Jerradon Phelps and Alexis Hale, who were hired by Kevin to do the killing, were also convicted of murder and sentenced in 2020.

As shown in season 1 episode 4 of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix, just before her death on September 20, 2017, Amanda's sister, Alisha Canales-Mcguire, also known as Punky, was lying down on the ground floor couch of the home. She went to answer the door when the doorbell rang.

Alisha was shot several times and killed in an instant, falling dead on the stairs with blood everywhere. Abigal, the nanny, went down to investigate after hearing gun pops and saw Alisha Canales-Mcguire in a pool of blood. In the documentary, she is seen petrified as she calls 911, saying:

“I was sleeping in my room ….she fell on the stairs….she is lying face down in her own …”

2) Amanda's daughters were terrified

As shown in season 1 episode 4 of Worst Ex Ever, Eliana and Amaya, Amanda’s daughters, were carried down by the EMTs, who arrived on the scene and tried their best to shield the scene of the crime so that the kids wouldn’t witness any of it. The kids asked where their aunt was while they were forced to leave the house, post murder.

3) Isaiah witnessed the murder and was in a state of shock

Isaiah, Amanda's son, who was sitting on the couch downstairs, was horrified and had wide-open eyes after seeing some of the events that night. When the cops finally showed up later, he tightly wrapped his legs around Abigail to make himself feel safe again. The sight of his aunt dead and in a pool of blood had been too much for the little child to witness and bear.

4) The killer was actually assigned to kill Amanda

Jerradon Phelps, Kevin’s cousin, was tipped $2400 by Kevin to kill Amanda. Kevin had even shown Jerradon a picture of Amanda before he could drive to his place and kill her. However, Amanda was out of town and Jerradon shot the first person who opened the door and realized that it was a mistake, after which he fled. Later, when he was taken into custody and interrogated, he revealed how Kevin had sent him to call Amanda originally.

5) Jerradon’s girlfriend played the trump card to get the door opened

For her to receive a portion of the reward money, Jerradon's girlfriend, Alexis Hale, drove with him to the crime scene. She proceeded to Amanda's house and knocked. It was Alisha Canales-Mcguire's responsibility to open the door when she observed a woman in the middle of the night requesting assistance.

Perhaps if Jerradon had knocked instead, she wouldn't have opened the door upon seeing a hooded man in the middle of the night and that would have saved her from death.
