5 chilling facts about Conbino Crasto's murder
1) Conbino Crasto was murdered during his shift at a Cleveland, Texas, gas station
On December 16, 2015, Conbino Crasto, a native of Goa, India, was working his usual job at the Exxon convenience store at 1030 FM 2025 in Cleveland. At around 9.30 PM that night, three masked men walked into the store in an attempt to rob it. One of the men allegedly got into an argument with the store clerk, Crasto, and shot him in the chest.
He was taken to the Memorial Hermann Hospital in a LifeFlight helicopter but did not survive.
2) Conbino Crasto may have survived if he stuck to his original plan of visiting India during Christmas
As per reports, Conbino, who was working in the United States for seven years was planning to visit his country for Christmas that year, but later changed his plan and decided to visit in March to celebrate his wife's birthday in Goa, India.
This change of plan ended up being fatal to the store clerk.
3) The plan of the robbery was almost whimsical
As per the four people involved in the robbery, the plan only came up because Roberto Alvarado floated the idea after the four of them met at Michael's house that evening.
Roberto also allegedly provided them with clothes, masks, and a gun.
4) Conbino Crasto was killed despite complying with the robbers
While the initial reports claimed that Conbino was killed after he had an argument with Frank Hernandez, who fired the fatal shot, another clerk who did not give out his name, claimed that it was more like a cold-blooded murder as Conbino was complying with the robbers but they shot him anyway.
The other store clerk said:
"He told [Crasto] to put all the money in the bag. So, he put the bag in his face and he shot him."
A police officer also added in a press release:
"This was cold blooded murder. The clerk did not attempt to fight/resist the shooter. There was no reason whatsoever to shoot this innocent person."
5) All four accused were identified and arrested within five days of the crime
Within five days of the crime, Roberto Alvarado, Frank Hernandez, and Michael Richardson were all under arrest. The juvenile was also taken in and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
As for the rest, Alvarado was sentenced to 65 years, Hernandez was sentenced to life, and Richardson was sentenced to 28 years in prison. All of them continue to serve their sentences in different prisons.
