The community was left dazed and in pain from the brutal murder committed on David Rossillo Jr. in December 2017 in southwest Philadelphia. A prospect of the infamous motorcycle gang, the Warlocks, Rossillo's death was a result of a premeditated execution.

Rosillo's body was found in a crypt, along with the body of another victim, Keith Palumbo. The case would begin as a missing persons case and reveal itself to be the rather complicated murder of several gang members. The third episode of How (Not) to Get Rid of a Body titled Graveyard Shift explores this case. It is set to air on September 18, 2024.

This article goes into five shocking details about the murder of David Rossillo Jr. from planning the killing to finally discovering his remains. These tell apart the atrocities in gang violence and shed light on how he met his end.

5 shocking facts about the David Rossillo Jr. murder case

1) The cemetery meeting that led to his death

David Rossillo Jr. was lured to his death under the guise of a meeting at the Mount Moriah Cemetery, a historic burial ground in southwest Philadelphia. The killer, Michael DiMauro, another member of the infamous Warlocks gang, told Rossillo that he would meet him at the cemetery.

What followed was a cold-blooded execution. DiMauro shot Rossillo in the cemetery, turning a quiet resting place for the dead into the site of a violent gang murder. Using such a desolate, abandoned location increased the calculated brutality of the crime.

2) Dragging the body with a rope tied to a car

One of the most chilling aspects of Rossillo's murder was what happened after he was killed. DiMauro tied a rope around the neck of Rossillo and dragged his body using a car to dispose of the corpse.

The scene of dragging a victim's corpse in such a manner reflects how sharply cruel and devoid of respect for human lives it was to conduct such a crime. It was one of the various attempts by DiMauro and his accomplices to cover up the murder committed inside a secluded cemetery.

3) Discovery of his body in the crypt

The body of David Rossillo Jr. was kept hidden in Mount Moriah Cemetery for several years, and his family did not know his death. David Rossillo Jr's body was discovered in April 2020 in a crypt with another victim's body.

The location of the bodies, inside a crypt deep within the rural Maserati Dairy Company headquarters, is symbolic of a deliberate effort by DiMauro and his co-conspirators to conceal the crime and ensure that the victims were never found. It would be months before DNA testing finally confirmed Rossillo's remains, bringing a small sense of closure to the case.

4) Cooperating witnesses' role

Cooperating witnesses played a significant role in bringing home an effective case against Michael DiMauro. Two members of the motorcycle club known as the Warlocks were very cooperative with detectives, giving investigators many of the key facts linking DiMauro to Rossillo's homicide.

Their testimony helped outline, from enticing Rossillo to the cemetery on through the disposal of his body, what likely occurred during the night of the killing. Had the perpetrators been successful in their cleanup, the crime could never have been solved.

5) The Motive: Breaking 'club rules'

Even though there is no clear motive in the killing of David Rossillo Jr., it is said that both Rossillo and Palumbo broke the "club rules" that led to their murders. This was probably breaching the trust within the Warlocks gang, which culminated in violent reactions.

The Warlocks, as is any criminal group, operate based on a strict code of conduct. A faction could feel betrayed because particular actions violate this code. In this instance, death was the punishment, yet rules that are broken are unknown to society.

The murder of David Rossillo Jr. stands as one killing, violent and cold-blooded, because of gang activities. The surrounding cemetery where he was killed and his decomposing body was found in a field many years later reflective of the callousness of those perpetrators of this crime.

Michael DiMauro's conviction in this murder and the cooperating witnesses brought some sort of closure to the family of David Rossillo Jr. But what is definite is that the crime committed that night will forever remain unknown to including those who buried it along with the Warlocks and their motorcycle gang.
