5 chilling details about Julie Kibuishi and Sam Herr's murder

Season 1 episode 10 of A Plan to Kill will focus on the murders of war hero Sam Herr, and Julie Kibuishi, a 23-year-old fashion student.

Sam Herr and Julie Kibuishi were killed by theatre actor Daniel Wozniak on May 21, 2010. Wozniak killed Sam Herr for financial gain and he confessed the same as per CBS News. Reportedly, Wozniak needed money for his impending marriage and other bills and wanted to get hold of Sam's savings after killing him, which was the driving force behind the double homicide.

Daniel Wozniak was arrested in 2010 on two counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to death in 2016.

1) Julie Kibuishi was shot twice in the head

As per reports by Oxygen True Crime, when Sam Herr's father went to check on his son in his apartment and entered the home with a spare key, he did not find Sam inside. However, he saw Julie Kibuishi's deceased body on the bed. She was shot twice in the head. Her jeans were pulled down and cut and she was still wearing the tiara gifted to her by her brother.

Another shocking and bizarre discovery was that the killer who slayed Julie wrote “All Yours” and “F-ck You” across her sweatshirt.

2) Sam Herr's body was dismembered and his torso was hidden in an attic

As per CBS News, Daniel Wozniak confessed to luring Sam Herr into a nearby theatre and shooting him twice in the head. He then dismembered Sam's body with an ax and a saw and hid his torso in the attic of the theater. One day after killing Sam, Wozniak disposed of the pieces of his dismembered body around town.

3) Julie Kibuishi was lured inside Sam Herr's home by Daniel Wozniak

As per Oxygen True Crime, Julie Kibuishi was lured into Sam's apartment by the killer Wozniak, who after killing Sam Herr, got access to his phone and texted Julie:

"Can you come over tonight at midnight alone? Going out for a bit. Very upset. Need to talk. Please. No s*x. I need to talk to someone."

Julie Kibuishi found this message absurd as she and Sam had a "pseudo-brother-and-sister relationship" as per Oxygen True Crime. Hence, she replied and wrote:

"Lol ew sam we’re like bro and sis no s*x... Sam im here for you like family,”

After exchanging a few text messages, a worried Julie went to check on Sam Herr. Wozniak met her outside the house and pretended to be Sam's friend after which the two went in and Wozniak shot Julie twice and fled.

As per CBS News, Wozniak confessed to the same stating:

"I'm crazy and I did it"

4) Detectives found some harrowing evidence

As per CBS News, the detectives investigating the murders found a backpack outside Daniel Wozniak's parents' house that contained Sam Herr's clothes, wallets, keys, and more. After checking Wozniak's browsing history, it was known that before committing the double homicide, he had prepared for it, by conducting Google searches like: "how to hide a body" and "quick ways to kill people."

The tools with which Wozniak used to dismember Sam Herr's body were also recovered.

5) Daniel Wozniak tried to frame Sam Herr for Julie Kibuishi's murder

After murdering Sam Herr, Wozniak tried to hide his remains, after which he murdered Julie on Sam's bed. He staged the scene of the crime for the detectives to make it look like Sam had murdered Julie after s*xually assaulting her and eventually fled the scene.

As per Oxygen True Crime, Wozniak did not confess to the murder and told authorities that Sam had killed Julie Kibuishi in a "drug-induced haze" after which he went on a run. Daniel also claimed that Sam had threatened him to help him flee and get rid of evidence.
