The double murder of Roosevelt Bernard and his daughter, Martine Bernard, is one of the most terrifying cases of co-existing with a psychopath. Martine, who was six months pregnant at the time of her murder, was killed in 2018. Her husband, Cassandritz Blanc, killed her before killing his father-in-law just days later, for seemingly no reason.

The case will be the subject of the upcoming episode of Signs of a Psychopath on Investigation Discovery. The episode is set to air on June 30, 2024, at 10 pm EST. The synopsis for the same reads:

"Six months pregnant Martine Bernard's family reports her missing; days later, her father vanishes as well; when officers interview Martine's husband, Cassandritz Blanc, they find a calculating psychopath willing to do anything to cover his tracks."

Ahead of this episode on June 30, 2024, here are five chilling details about the double murder of Martine Bernard and her father, Roosevelt Bernard.

5 facts about Martine Bernard and Roosevelt Bernard's murder

1) Martine Bernard was allegedly killed for "disrespecting" her husband

In what can be considered one of the strangest cases of murder, Martine was allegedly killed by Cassandritz Blanc, because he felt "disrespected" by her. The couple had been married only eight months before the murder.

Feeling "disrespected" was the only explanation Cassandritz provided for the murder during his confession. It is still unclear if this was the only reason Cassandritz went forward with the grizzly murder.

2) Cassandritz proceeded to hunt down and kill Roosevelt Bernard days after Martine's murder

Cassandritz Blanc went to his in-laws' place five days after killing Martine and shot his father-in-law to death. He never provided an explanation for the same but claimed that he shot him from behind because he could not look the man in the eye while killing him.

3) Cassandritz Blanc went over an elaborate ordeal to mask Roosevelt Bernard's death

After shooting Roosevelt down in his daughter's old bedroom, Cassandritz closed the door and left with the rest of the family to an event. He then left the event to come back to the house and dispose of Roosevelt Bernard's body.

He reportedly wheeled the body out in a trash can to a vacant field, where he returned later to set it on fire. He could not, however, get rid of the body completely.

4) Cassandritz Blanc also tried to dismember Martine Bernard's body before he tried to dump it in their apartment's alleyway

After Cassandritz murdered his wife, he kept her body for nearly a week in their apartment. He later confessed that he tried to dismember the body before disposing it, stating that it could make the job easier, but he could not do it successfully.

He was ultimately caught while trying to dump her body in a trash container near their apartment. He was being actively investigated by the police at the time as a suspect in the missing person's case.

5) Cassandritz Blanc continues to serve his time in prison for the murders of Roosevelt and Martine Bernard

Blanc confessed to his crimes after being caught and charged. In his trial, he was sentenced to three life terms for two counts of murder in the first degree and one count of murder in the first degree of an unborn child. He was also charged with abuse of the dead bodies.

He continues to stay in prison for life, with no eligibility for parole at any time in the future.

The upcoming episode of Signs of a Psychopath will cover this case in more detail. Stay tuned for updates.
