Beef, Bojack Horseman, American Vandal, and more: 5 comedy series to binge while waiting for That '90s Show Season 3
1) American Vandal (2017 - 2018)
American Vandal is a parody of the true-crime show Making of a Murderer. The show follows two teenagers as they attempt to investigate menial offenses like graffiti on walls with hysterical seriousness.
The ridiculousness of the entire plot increases with every episode, as the idea is something that can be explored in a single long episode. But it is instead broken into eight half-hour-long episodes, elevating the satirical nature of the show and making for a delightful watch for those waiting for That '90s Show Season 3.
2) Arrested Development (2003 - 2019)
Arrested Development follows the downfall of an unbelievably wealthy in a comedic manner. Following a similar strain as Schitt's Creek, the show follows George Bluth Sr.'s son, Michael (played by Jason Bateman) as he attempts to handle the family's business dealings and finances after his father is sent to prison for committing fraud and "light treason."
The show hilariously portrays his struggles as his extended family barely makes matters easier for him, all of which is narrated by showbiz veteran, Ron Howard.
3) Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show (2019)
Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show has aptly been described as a "good old-fashioned shade off." The show is part sketch series, and part fake reality TV, where fans get to watch eight sketch artists perform skits ranging across a variety of topics. However, the show also portrays real-life glimpses of the artists as they live together in a house in Hollywood Hills.
Although Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show was canceled after one season, the six episodes are so brilliant, they are worthy of every rewatch and should definitely be on the watch list for those waiting for That '90s Show Season 3.
4) Beef (2023)
Beef begins with an almost collision in a parking lot. Although a seemingly small issue, this sparks off a rage-induced chase scene which then progressively escalates into bizarre revenge attempts.
The storyline of Beef is such that while there are humorous elements present in the plot, viewers are glued to their screens to find out what each of the characters does next, even as they become increasingly unlikeable to the audience. Although the show is on a much different strain than That '90s Show, the storyline is captivating enough to keep fans glued to their screens.
5) Bojack Horseman (2014 - 2020)
BoJack Horseman takes a jab at the entertainment industry, as the animated show stars a horse in the titular role. Bojack is a has-been actor attempting to make a comeback into the entertainment industry.
The show tackles serious issues like depression and addiction in a unique manner, always making sure to not shy away from jokes, no matter how dark they may seem.
These are some of the best comedy series that you can binge next while you wait for That '90s Show Season 3 to be announced.
