5 defining moments from House of the Dragon Season 2
1) Rhaenys’s death
In House of the Dragon season 2, episode 4, Rhaenys was the lone warrior in the Battle at Rook’s Rest. Before Aemond arrived, Meleys burned down half of Cole’s army, fighting for the rightful heir Rhaenyra.
Even after Sunfyre's attack her, she survived. However, when Aemond arrived on Vhagar, to save the day for Cole, he first attacked Aegon intentionally and then went on to take down Meleys. After Aegon fell, Rhaenys looked at Vhagar and Aemond, and commanded Meleys to attack in High Valyrian immediately.
As the dragons engaged, Meleys survived the dragon fire and Vhagar fell on the battlefield. However, on Aemond’s second attempt, Vhagar chomped Meleys’s neck. As Rhaenys and Meleys fell, Rhaenys embraced her death like a true warrior.
2) Cole and Aegon’s failed attempt to kill Rhaenyra
In House of the Dragon season two episode 2, Aegon and Ser Criston Cole send Ser Erryk’s twin Ser Arryk Cargyll on a secret mission to kill Rhaenyra, to stop the war before it commences. 3) Aegon dismissing Otto Hightower
In season 2 episode two after Aegon hanged the ratcatchers following his son’s death, Otto Hightower, his hand came to him and blamed him for his actions. When Otto heard about Aegon’s plan to slay Rhaenyra, he tried to humiliate him. However, Aegon being Aegon, did not listen to him and dismissed him as the Hand, making Cole his new Hand.
Otto’s absence from the council was a disaster and did Aegon no good as Cole favors Aemond over Aegon, which led to Aegon’s and the Green’s downfall.
4) Dragons are Gods
