Created by Tim Miller, who also created Love, Death and Robots, Secret Level, is an anthology series that was released recently on Amazon Prime. The first part came out on December 10, 2024, and the second part was released on December 17, 2024.

The unique show takes popular video games and tells a story in each episode based on those games. Mixing something classic and creating something new, is the motto of the series. Each episode is intriguing and has stunning visuals, thanks to Blur Studio’s fantastic animation.

Pac-Man, Mega Man and other memorable episodes from Secret Level

1) Dungeons & Dragons: The Queen’s Cradle

The first episode of the series, Secret Level, starts off on a thrilling note. The episode is inspired by the popular game where players create interesting adventures and campaigns themselves. The memorable episode has some heartwarming moments and stunning visuals.

In this episode, viewers follow four players who have to save a man from the jungle. Once the man is rescued, he has a lot of markings on his body that indicate spells being done. The party of four takes him to a dragon, which extracts the magic from his body.


2) Pac-Man: Circle

In episode six of Secret Level, the show takes inspiration from the iconic arcade game and features a grayish man who encounters a golden orb. The man is stuck in a maze and the orb tells him to eat and grow strong enough to break free. The episode then cuts to a montage of violence and gore as the man goes on an eating rampage.

The episode turns bleak as the orb attaches itself to the man and wants to exit the maze itself. But when the man dies and it is unable to break out, the game of the maze begins again and another man is tempted by the orb. The viewers are thus left on an unsettling note.


3) Mega Man: Start

In episode ten, Secret Level, the show, revolves around the video game hero Mega Man and it is the shortest episode. Yet, it still packs a punch. The episode presents a new version of Mega Man’s origins. And as the episode is inspired by a Japanese game character, the episode has tried to embody that aesthetic.

Even in a short time, the episode has appealing action scenes and has many hints and Easter eggs for gaming lovers. As this one is quite short, viewers can easily watch it in one go.


4) Crossfire: Good Conflict

This is episode seven of Secret Level, and the show has notched up on its visuals and storylines. Based on the famous multiplayer shooter game, the episode is heavy on action, guns, and warfare. In the episode, a mercenary team must protect a client and an important briefcase from enemies.

The visuals are engaging as it is set against the moody atmosphere of rain and war. The episode even comes with a commentary as the military unit thinks that it is on the side of goodness, even though they cause destruction.


5) Sifu: It Takes a Life

Inspired by the martial arts game, episode two of Secret Level, focuses on action and some backstory. The game is about a karate student witnessing the death of his master and his passion for revenge. The game also plays with life and age as dead players can return but at the cost of their age.

The episode therefore follows the student’s origins and his quest for revenge. The episode has impressive martial arts scenes and is fast-paced. Viewers who like to enjoy action, conspiracy, and engaging storylines must watch this one.
