She plays Catherine Cawood, a skilled police sergeant in a rural Yorkshire valley. In the first season, she is determined to track down the person who she believes is responsible for her daughter's suicide.

Happy Valley thrives on a solid screenplay that features plenty of unpredictable twists and turns which helps maintain the suspense. Like On Call's Traci Harmon, Catherine has an endearing quality about her that makes the audience want to know more about her life, outside of work.

Unlike On Call, Nightwatch presents real-life situations which makes for an even more intense watch. Viewers will find themselves addicted to the show because it is particularly unpredictable as situations tend to escalate at the drop of a hat. It is also heartening to see the emergency service workers regularly put themselves in life-threatening situations to protect the people.

On Call has received a lot of praise because it showcases how people working high-pressure jobs have a lot on their shoulders that impacts their physical and mental well-being. 9-1-1: Lone Star, containing five seasons and 69 episodes, also broaches similar themes.

In this show, Rob Lewe plays Owen Strand, a firefighter from New York who moves to Austin. He works diligently together with his team to help the people in the city while navigating several personal problems.

The best part of 9-1-1: Lone Star is its realistic handling of EMS and fire situations. Like On Call, it also boasts many well-developed characters who can captivate the audience with their likable personalities. Even though it explores serious plotlines, the creators are also able to infuse some witty moments that add to the viewing experience.

Containing three seasons and 24 episodes, Will Trent stars Ramón Rodríguez in the lead. He plays Wilbur Trent, aka Will, a Special Agent in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who has a knack for solving complicated cases.

Will Trent is worth watching because of its intelligent plotline that is carried by interesting characters who all have a story to tell. The satisfying character arcs ensure that the viewer is invested till the very end.

It has a sense of mystery but at the same time, it isn't afraid to weave in humorous moments that add to the storytelling. Even though it isn't as intense as On Call, the show still offers enough drama to keep viewers coming back.
