The Showtime drama series Your Honor has become one of the most viewed shows on Netflix since its addition in May 2024. Adapted from the Israeli series Kvodo, it originally premiered on Showtime in 2020 and stars Bryan Cranston as Judge Michael Desiato. The official synopsis of the series reads:

“Michael Desiato is a prominent and respected New Orleans judge. When his teenage son Adam kills another teenager in an accidental hit-and-run collision, Michael encourages his son to turn himself in, but quickly changes his mind when he discovers the boy his son killed was the son of a mob kingpin.”

Your Honor was initially slated for one season, but its success led to a second season in 2023. There are no official confirmations for a third season, as Cranston's character faced a major loss by the end of season 2.

However, in an April 2023 interview with Deadline, Bryan Cranston hinted that a third season might still be possible. He stated:

"There is some discussion. Showtime has indicated there is interest and we’re very proud to know that every episode in Season 2 increased in the audience from the previous week. If it happens, fantastic but it’d have to be some great reason to keep expanding in this world and to find out where the allegiances are."

The renewed interest in the series (since its premiere on Netflix), could possibly become a major factor prompting the renewal of the series. However, no official news of renewal has been confirmed by the creators. Meanwhile, this article explores some of the major expectations from a possible season 3 of Your Honor.

5 things to expect from Your Honor if it returns for season 3

The Showtime series follows the story of Michael Desiato, a respected judge in New Orleans. However, when his son Adam (Hunter Doohan) got involved in the hit-and-run case of a powerful mobster's son, life changed for Michael.

The two seasons saw Michael fall into a rabbit hole of lies, deceit, and getting embroiled in the world of organized crime. While Michael compromised his ideals to protect his son, Adam, the boy eventually met his demise after the first season.

Michael ultimately landed in jail after confessing to his crimes throughout the past two seasons. The plot of Your Honor is at a crossroads hinting at a plethora of possibilities for season 3 if it is renewed.

1) Michael Desiato might not feature in the season

The second season of Your Honor witnessed the downfall of Michael Desiato as he confessed to his crimes and was an accomplice in the hit-and-run case of Rocco Baxter. Michael laments the loss of his son Adam in the finale of the second season and ends up in prison.

Thus, it is unlikely that the character will be featured in season 3 of the series. With Michael content with being in jail and ruminating over his decisions, his return might not be added to the plot.

2) Gina Baxter as the new head of the crime syndicate

A new season of the series could likely see Gina Baxter (Hope Davis) consolidate her position as the boss of the crime syndicate. She convinced her father Carmine (Mark Margolis) to shoot her husband Jimmy (Michael Stuhlbarg).

Although Jimmy did not die, he remained hospitalized while Gina had Carmine arrested, to assume the top position in the crime syndicate.

3) Addition of new characters to the plot

Your Honor will require the addition of new characters to take the plot forward in season 3, as many plots were resolved in Season 2, keeping in mind that it would be the final season for the series. If the series continues for a third season, the addition of new characters will inject new dimensions to explore.

4) Absence of other characters

Viewers can expect the absence of important characters from the third season. The second season saw the demise of Adam Desiato, which will be a major loss.

Additionally, Sofia "Fia" Baxter (Lilli Kay) departed New Orleans to get away from her mob family, after giving up her infant son. Carmine Conti might also be absent after being arrested by the police.

5) A possible storyline charged with emotions

Although it is unlikely that Michael Desiato will return for a third season, Bryan Cranston still left the door open for a return under special circumstances. As per his interview with Deadline in April 2023, the actor said that he would be open to reprising his role if the series explored the reality of Michael grieving his dead son.

Your Honor can possibly go forward with exploring Michael's guilt and despair upon losing his son, taking the show forward on a more emotional note. The family relations of the Baxter family might also be highlighted with Gina as the new leader, changing the power dynamics within the family.
