Here are 5 things we need to see in Shrinking season 3
Jimmy finding love again
Jimmy, the helpful and slightly overindulging therapist, has spent the last two seasons healing from the loss of his wife Tia. In season 2 episode 10, there was a hint of him moving forward towards a romantic life again during his chat with Cobie Smulders' Sofi. However, he self-admittedly couldn't find a way to take things forward.
In Shrinking season 3, Jimmy's journey to healing can take him towards a new romantic life. While speaking to TVLine, the show's co-creator Bill Lawrence shared that he wants Cobie Smulders to return as Sofi.
Brian and Charlie's fatherhood
One of the key storylines of season 2 was Brian's struggle to come to terms with adopting a baby, something that his partner Charlie was extremely excited about. However, in the end, he realized that he also wanted to become a father.
Now that the couple is adopting a baby, the storyline can expand to their struggle with raising a child in Shrinking season 3. And it is clear from season 2 that Liz will play a major part in their lives in the upcoming season.
Paul becoming more open with relationships
Harrison Ford's Paul has come a long way in the show, from being a broody and recluse mentor to Jimmy and others, to sharing his heart and home with his new girlfriend, Dr. Julie Baram. In the season 2 finale, he gave a heartfelt speech about his concern over his escalating Parkinson's disease and how he is thankful that he has people in life who would make it easy to cope.
That speech signified that Paul has become more open to his vulnerabilities and is learning to share his concerns with people. In the next season, we might see him make more progress in his relationships.
Alice going to college
Alice, played by Lukita Maxwell has also spent the two seasons healing from the death of her mother, while also being concerned about her father who had drowned himself in grief. However, Jimmy realized his neglect and worked hard on himself to make things better with Alice. In season 2, Alice's main storyline was her forgiving Louis, the man whose carelessness led to her mother's death.
In Shrinking season 3, we might get to see a lot more of Alice being worried about her future as she will be graduating from high school soon. Her moving out for college would not only be a challenge for her but for Jimmy too.
Gaby and Derek's relationship
All the characters in the show seem to have made progress in their lives, but Gaby is still struggling with letting people in her life. Her storyline began with a divorce from her longtime husband. After that she shortly spent some time romantically with Jimmy and got attached to him, knowing well that he doesn't see her with the same lens.
In season 2, Gaby's story revolved around her relationship with her mother and her new boyfriend, Derek. But by the end, Derek broke up with her and told her to 'work on whatever she has to work on' and then give him a call. In Shrinking season 3, it would be interesting to see if Gaby and Derek would get back together, or not.
