Based on the trilogy of novels by Hugh Howey and created by Graham Yost, Silo is a sci-fi dystopian drama, starring Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Robbins, and others. The show is set in a future where humans live in underground silos that have their own ways of functioning as a self-contained society.
When a computer engineer dies of mysterious circumstances while trying to find out the secrets behind the Silo’s regime, an engineer-turned-sheriff decides to investigate his death. The sheriff finds startling information much to the dismay of the authorities.
The series is a mix of sci-fi, mystery, political intrigue, and has stunning visuals and power-packed performances. It was released on November 15, 2024, on Apple TV+ There are many dynamic characters in the show that make it watchable, here are six of them.

Martha, Ruth, and other best characters from Silo
1) Paul Billings
Billings manages to make himself an audience favorite by being disciplined and a man of his word. Even though he is the sheriff and as such, is the public enemy, he believes in the pact and is sincere. He also makes sure to gain public trust after his senior gets murdered.
Billings is so devoted to his job and duty that he refuses to let his nervous disorder come in the way of his job. Even though his syndrome makes it difficult for him to control fine motor functions, he continues to fulfill his duties admirably.
2) Martha Walker
Even though Martha has her own problems and fears to leave her home, she is brave enough to let Juliette Nichols into her house when the teen had rebelled against the authorities in Silo.
She not only gives Nichols a safe place but also mentors and guides her when she joins Mechanical as an engineer. The elderly lady has a complex character and there is a backstory to her fear that needs to be developed.
3) Ruth Jahns
Jahns is one of the few authoritarian characters in Silo that displays loyalty and morals. She has been the long-term mayor of the community as the people like her personality. But she goes against her staff when she makes Juliette the Sheriff after the death of Holston.
As she refuses to follow the dictates of the higher-ups, she is unfortunately assassinated. But her character leaves a lasting impression on the show. Her soft side is seen when she has feelings for Deputy Marnes but keeps it aside because she is duty-bound.
4) Holston Becker
The series starts with him and his character is another upstanding one in the show. Becker is an honest and just Sheriff in Silo that continues to do his work even when he loses his wife after she goes outside.
His character has many layers as he and his wife were also unable to conceive and that adds to his trauma that he keeps hidden. When he finds George Wilkins’ hard drive and meets Juliette, he realizes that he needs to uncover the truth just like his wife was trying to.
5) Juliette Nichols
Nichols is the protagonist in Silo and is a charismatic and dynamic character who is not afraid of anything. She starts off by being a humble engineer and finds out about the conspiracy behind George Wilkins’ death. She soon becomes a Sheriff, much to the dismay of the authorities.
Her headstrong character causes her to clash with her superiors and she does not believe in the authorities of the show, whom she thinks are covering up something. Her morals, discipline, and tenacity make her the most important character.
6) Bernard Holland
Even though he is the main antagonist and the mastermind behind all the illegal activities in Silo, he remains an enigmatic character. As the head of I.T. he is a demanding boss who stays tough on his employees and becomes wrathful when Juliette disobeys his authority and steals a tape from his department.
The show’s major twists and reveals are all related to him as it comes to light that Holland is the one that has the keys to Silo and the one that controls everything. His character is therefore extremely important to the show.
