As one of the most popular shows in recent times, Euphoria offers an eye-opening experience that delves into the world of s*x, drugs, and trauma, reflecting the lives of teenagers in the modern world.

Whether it is Zendaya's portrayal of Rue Bennett, a drug addict just out of rehab who struggles to find her place in the world while fighting with her base urges, or Sydney Sweeney's portrayal of Cassie Howard, a young girl with a haunting past. These actors and their portrayals of their respective characters are partly responsible for turning an entire generation of people into Euphoria fans.

However, it will be some time until Euphoria season 3 hits the screens, with filming expected to start by January next year. In the meantime, the following shows can offer the same insight into the chaotic world of young adults that viewers are craving.

Sex Education, Elite, and four other shows that are a must-watch for Euphoria fans

1) Heartbreak High

Heartbreak High follows Amerie, who gets socially cast aside after exposing all the secret relationships at her school with graffiti. Going through a low phase, she befriends two fellow misfits, Queenie and Darren, who help steer her crazy school life and bring it back on track.

The show takes itself less seriously than Euphoria while tackling the same subjects of s*xuality, bullying, and finding one's identity. It is a much lighter watch, suitable for those who like their teenage drama with a hint of comedy.

2) Skins (UK)

A show that can be considered the most Euphoria-like on this list is undoubtedly Skins (UK). This 2007 British teen drama tackles difficult subjects like mental issues, eating disorders, and drug abuse at a time when other shows were afraid to even mention them.

The show is highly regarded for its diverse cast of characters and their performances. Many of the cast members, namely Nicholas Hoult (who played Tony) and Dev Patel (who portrayed Anwar), have since enjoyed successful careers in the film world as well.

3) Freaks and Geeks

Freaks and Geeks revolves around a group of weirdo kids going through their high-school phase in the 80s. Lindsey Weir (Linda Cardellini), a math wiz, starts hanging out with a group of colorful characters, while her younger brother (John Francis Daley) enters freshman year and gets introduced to the madness. Featuring future Hollywood stars like James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Jason Segel, the series offers a humorous look at the challenges of growing up.

Despite running for a single season, the show garnered a cult following. In many ways, it set the stage for shows like Euphoria and helped it find its footing.

4) Shameless

Shameless follows the life of Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy), a single father of six, as he navigates the chaos of his dysfunctional family.

Frank and his kids make their way through the complexities of urban life, but Frank's alcohol and drug addiction become a hindrance. His kids are no saints, each one of them is either part of an affair, involved in a petty crime, or has frequent run-ins with the police. But despite all the challenges, they somehow make it work. The show manages to handle the heavy subject matter with its signature dose of dark humor.

Much like Euphoria, Shameless explores the psyche of undeniably flawed but compelling characters, presenting an interesting commentary on the human condition.

5) Elite

Three friends from working-class families enroll in a private school, and an inevitable culture clash ensues between the new entrants and their filthy-rich classmates. But things take a serious turn from general high school drama and culminate in a bout of grave consequences for the main characters.

The Spanish teen drama series is just as gripping as the best parts of Euphoria and keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. With the eighth and final season recently concluded, this is the perfect time to binge on Elite.

6) Sex Education

Sex Education tackles the uncomfortable topic of s*xuality with refreshing honesty and humor. Despite having little to no experience, Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) sets up an underground s*x therapy clinic with Maeve (Emma Mackey) to help his classmates deal with their personal issues. Otis' venture becomes a cathartic exercise in getting in tune with his feelings while helping others work through their issues.

The show's charming humor offers a hilarious take on growing up in the modern world. Fans of Euphoria will appreciate the divergence from typical teenage drama, delving into more serious issues, and allowing the characters to mature as the story progresses.

These six shows will keep fans of Euphoria tied down to their couches as they await the release of the highly anticipated season 3.
