Ronald Hale Thigpen, known as Ron Hale, was an American actor, who died on August 27, 2024 at the age of 78, and the news was announced recently. He was known for his work on the ABC soap opera, Ryan’s Hope, and another ABC soap opera, General Hospital.
The veteran actor appeared in various films and TV shows, including Search for Tomorrow, Trial by Jury, Intimate Portrait, and others.

1) Ryan’s Hope
A soap opera, Ryan’s Hope, is created by Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer and revolves around a large Irish-American family in Manhattan, New York City. The show has multiple storylines and mainly centers around the patriarch Johnny Ryan (Bernard Barrow) and his wife, Maeve (Helen Gallagher), and their five children.
Ron Hale played the role of Dr. Roger Coleridge in the series from 1975 to 1989. He also received two Daytime Emmy nominations in 1979 and 1980 for his role as the doctor.
2) General Hospital
Listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-running American soap opera in production, General Hospital is a medical show that has been airing since 1963. It has also won the most number of Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series.
Created by Frank and Doris Hursley, General Hospital featured John Beradino and Emily McLaughlin, who acted in the show till their demise.
The show has featured several storylines over the years, which are all set at the eponymous hospital. Ron Hale played the role of Mike Corbin in the series from 1995 to 2010.

4) MacGyver
Starring Richard Dean Anderson and Dana Elcar, MacGyver, is an action-adventure series, created by Lee David Zlotoff. The series revolves around a secret agent, Angus MacGyver (Anderson), who is a troubleshooter in Los Angeles and also works for the US agency as an agent.
Educated as a scientist, MacGyver is a genius when it comes to science, often using his practical knowledge to solve cases. The show was extremely successful, even giving birth to a term ‘MacGyverism’, to refer to MacGyver’s scientific inventions. Ron Hale plays a supporting role in the show.
5) Matlock
Created by Dean Hargrove, Matlock is a mystery legal drama, starring Andy Griffith in the titular role of criminal defense attorney Ben Matlock. The show revolves around popular attorney, Matlock, who is able to solve tough cases and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The show also inspired a spin-off known as Jake and the Fatman. The show is also set to begin a reboot series in 2024, starring Kathy Bates.

6) All the President’s Men

A comedy-drama, Me, Natalie, is directed by Fred Coe and stars Patty Duke, James Farentino, Ron Hale, and others. The movie is about a young girl, Natalie (Duke), who has buck teeth and a large nose and therefore consideres herself unattractive.
When her parents try to bribe a man to date her, she decides to leave her parents and settle in Manhattan. There, she meets an aspiring painter, who becomes friends with her and the duo start to fall for each other.
Ron Hale plays a supporting role in the movie as Stanley.
