Invincible is an adult-oriented animated superhero series developed by Robert Kirkman for Amazon Prime Video. It is adapted from the comic book series of the same name, which Kirkman co-created alongside Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley under Image Comics.

The series centers on teenager Mark Grayson as he becomes a superhero under the mentorship of his father, Omni-Man, the world’s strongest hero. Balancing his personal life with newfound responsibilities, Mark uncovers a dark conspiracy that challenges his perception of heroism and his father’s true nature.

Invincible season 3 is set to release on February 6, 2025, with the first three episodes debuting together, followed by weekly releases on Prime Video. Steven Yeun stars as Mark Grayson/Invincible, with Sandra Oh and J.K. Simmons playing his mother and father, respectively. The rest of the cast features in recurring roles.

The Boys is a satirical superhero TV show created by Eric Kripke for Amazon Prime Video. Inspired by the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, many of the characters, beyond their heroic identities, are corrupt, self-centered, and cause reckless collateral damage.

The series mainly revolves around two groups: The Boys, a team of CIA-backed black ops agents aiming to take down Vought and its corrupt superheroes, and The Seven, Vought's top superhero team and the Boys' greatest enemies.

The series has garnered eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including for Outstanding Drama Series in 2021, along with seven Critics' Choice Super Awards and six Astra TV Awards.

Both Invincible and The Boys deconstruct the superhero archetype, showcasing flawed heroes and examining the consequences of unchecked power.

Young Justice is an animated television series about superheroes, created by Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman. The show presents an original storyline set in the DC Universe, centering on teenage and young adult superheroes.

The original team—Nightwing, Aquaman, Superboy, Miss Martian, Tigress, Zatanna, and Rocket—returns to guide a new generation of young heroes in their pursuit of justice across Earth, the Solar System, the Galaxy, and beyond. They engage in battles between Order and Chaos, through Time and Space, and involving Life and Death.

Like Mark Grayson in Invincible, these young heroes struggle with relationships, identity, and their place in a world run by legendary people.

Arcane (shown on screen as Arcane: League of Legends) is an adult animated steampunk action-adventure TV series created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee.

The series was produced by the French animation studio Fortiche, with oversight from Riot Games, and distributed by Netflix. Set within Riot's League of Legends universe, it mainly follows the story of sisters Vi and Jinx.

As tensions rise between the wealthy, idealistic city of Piltover and the downtrodden, oppressed underworld of Zaun, sisters Vi and Powder (also known as Jinx) become embroiled in a growing conflict driven by conflicting beliefs and powerful arcane technologies.

In 2022, the series made history as the first streaming series to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program.

Arcane shares Invincible’s emotional complexity and vivid animation, delivering compelling narratives of power, loyalty, and betrayal.

4) My Hero Academia (2016 - present)

The anime series My Hero Academia was developed by Toho and Bones, based on the manga by Kohei Horikoshi. The series was announced in Issue 49 of Weekly Shonen Jump in 2015.

The first season was co-produced by MBS, and on March 8, 2016, Funimation announced that they had acquired the series' exclusive foreign rights.

Set in a world where superpowers, known as "Quirks," are widespread, the story follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy born without a Quirk who still aspires to become a hero. He is discovered by the world's top hero, All Might, who sees his potential and passes his Quirk onto Midoriya, aiding him in enrolling at a renowned high school for aspiring superheroes. The final season (season 8) is expected to air in 2025.

Both Invincible and My Hero Academia focus on the trials and triumphs of young heroes learning to harness their abilities while facing personal and external challenges.

5) Harley Quinn (2019 - present)

Harley Quinn is an adult animated black comedy superhero TV series inspired by the DC Comics character of the same name, created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm.

The series follows Harley Quinn's journey of self-discovery after ending her relationship with the Joker, realizing he never truly loved her. Determined to establish her own identity in Gotham City's criminal underworld, Harley forms a crew made up of her best friend Poison Ivy, Clayface, Doctor Psycho, King Shark, and Sy Borgman.

It debuted on November 29, 2019. In November 2023, the show was renewed for season 5, set to premiere on January 16, 2025.

Both Invincible and Harley Quinn share a mix of intense action and sharp humor, blending graphic violence with moments of levity to appeal to audiences.

Castlevania is an adult animated dark fantasy action TV series created and written by Warren Ellis for Netflix.

Inspired by the Japanese video game series by Konami, the first two seasons adapt the 1989 game Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. They follow Trevor Belmont, Alucard, and Sypha Belnades as they protect the nation of Wallachia from Dracula and his minions.

Additionally, characters and elements from the 2005 game Castlevania: Curse of Darkness appear starting in season 2, while Alucard's backstory is based on the 1997 game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The art style is strongly influenced by Japanese animation and Ayami Kojima's artwork.

After his wife is burned at the stake for witchcraft, vampire Vlad Dracula Țepeș vows revenge on Wallachia, unleashing an army of demons to destroy the population.

Like Invincible, Castlevania excels in combining visceral action with emotional and familial conflict.

Superman & Lois is a superhero TV show created for The CW by Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti, inspired by the DC Comics characters Superman and Lois Lane, who were created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

In Superman & Lois, the Kent family returns to Smallville, where they face threats like a mysterious stranger, Morgan Edge's experiments, and a growing conflict with Bizarro.

Both Invincible and Superman & Lois show young heroes struggling to balance their powers with family life. Mark Grayson faces tension with his father, Omni-Man, while Clark Kent must manage his duties as a hero and a father.
