Black Doves is a British spy thriller television series that was created by Joe Barton. The Netflix series stars Sarah Lancashire, Ben Whishaw, and Keira Knightley, among others.

Helen, the Secretary of State for Defence's wife, learns that her secret identity as a Black Dove is in danger after her companion is killed by London's criminal underworld.

Her employers, a spies-for-hire firm that requisitions industrial, diplomatic, or political secrets for the highest bidder, send Sam, an old acquaintance, to protect her. As the threat intensifies, Helen must face a deadly game of betrayal and survival.

The show recently received a renewal in November 2024 for a second season.

Maya Stern's friend Eva Finn gives her a nanny cam to look over her daughter Lily after her husband Joe Burkett is murdered. But when she watches the video, she notices Joe, who was thought to be dead, coming to meet their daughter.

This twist sets off a chain of events where Maya must uncover the truth behind his apparent resurrection.

A similarity between Black Doves and Fool Me Once is that both films have compelling psychological turns in which the characters must deal with betrayal and unearthed secrets, creating an engrossing and unpredictable story.

The cast of the Lioness TV show includes - Zoe Saldaña as Joe, the CIA officer who trains a new recruit, Laysla De Oliveira as Cruz Manuelos, a young woman recruited into the CIA's Lioness program, Nicole Kidman as Kathryn, a high-ranking government official, Morgan Freeman as Senator, among others.

Black Doves and Lioness both deal with treachery and undercover operations. In each, the protagonist must handle perilous situations while juggling their duty and personal morals.

Eli Cohen's audacious incursion into Syria prior to the 1967 Six-Day War is shown in the series as it actually happened. In a world of espionage and deceit, Cohen risks his life to acquire the trust of Syria's future leaders and advance to the rank of Deputy Defense Minister by posing as Kamel Amin Thaabet.

Both Black Doves and The Spy feature espionage and high-stakes missions, with the heroes negotiating perilous surroundings while overcoming personal and professional obstacles.

5) Tehran

Moshe Zonder wrote the Israeli spy thriller Tehran. With dialogue in Hebrew, Persian, and English, the show follows Iranian-Jewish Mossad agent Tamar Rabinyan on her first operation in her birthplace of Tehran.

While being hunted by the Revolutionary Guards and reestablishing her ties to her Iranian heritage, Tamar must escape after her attempt to sabotage a nuclear plant in Iran fails.

Tamar's missions in season 2 include killing a senior Iranian official and saving a pilot who has been taken prisoner. She is betrayed and alone and confronts fatal obstacles while confined in Iran, with no one to rely on.

The protagonists of Black Doves and Tehran enter hazardous situations while posing as someone else. The characters in both take great risks while completing crucial tasks.

The idea of fragmented identities is explored in both Black Doves and Severance. While the protagonist of Black Doves manages an undercover life, employees in Severance are forced to live two separate lives while being cut off from their memories.

The characters of Black Doves and The Diplomat both have to make difficult choices under pressure in political circumstances. Similar to a sequence in The Diplomat where Kate Wyler strikes a balance between diplomacy and the possibility of developing an international crisis, the protagonist of Black Doves must decide between her principles and her national duty.
