Set against the growing tension between the affluent city of Piltover and the oppressed undercity of Zaun, Arcane (officially titled Arcane: League of Legends) is an adult animated steampunk action-adventure series created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee.
Produced by the French animation studio Fortiche and overseen by Riot Games, it is distributed by Netflix. The series follows sisters Vi and Powder/Jinx as they become entangled in a conflict driven by differing beliefs and the power of arcane technology.
Arcane explores their journey and the rift between the sisters, Vi and Jinx, after being separated as children in Zaun’s undercity.
Its first season released between November 6 and 20, 2021. A second and final season was released between November 9 and 23, 2024. The show is packed with unforgettable moments. Here are 8 emotional scenes from Arcane that fans can’t stop talking about.
Caitlyn and Vi’s bond and 7 other unforgettable emotional moments in Arcane that fans can’t stop talking about
1) Jinx and Vi’s confrontation
At the end of Arcane's Act 2, Jinx and Vi finally reunite. When Jinx sees Vi, she briefly transitions to her old self, Powder. Jinx asks if this moment is real as her hallucinations blur reality and make it harder for her to distinguish what is real.
The fight between Jinx, Vi, and the Firelights serves as Vi’s introduction to Jinx. It horrifies Vi as she watches Jinx take pleasure in killing the Firelights. While Vi, on the other hand, is only defending herself. This moment shocks Vi to learn that Jinx enjoys the violence and leaves her vulnerable.
The confrontation between Jinx and Vi in Arcane left fans with some takeaways: their realizations about each other. Vi witnesses Jinx, also known as Powder, struggle with hallucinations and that she has turned cold and violent. While on the other hand, Jinx feels betrayed by the alliance between Vi and an enforcer.

2) Vi and Powder’s separation and the latter's explosion that follows
In Arcane season 1 episode 3, "The Base Violence Necessary for Change," the separation between Vi and Powder is depicted. Powder’s monkey bomb goes horribly wrong, which results in Vander’s death. She tries to explain that she only wanted to help, but grief and anger overwhelm Vi. She angrily calls Powder "Jinx," and despite Powder's desperate pleas for her sister not to leave, Vi walks away.
Alone and rejected, this devastation pushes Powder into a destructive spiral. She turns to Silco and orchestrates a violent bombing in a desperate attempt for control and revenge.
A fan took to X to share:
"caitlyn at the end looking at the blueprints of the building while holding the monkey bomb and smiling + the glitch at the end of the episode yea my girl jinx is alive she just left and is starting over somewhere else to stop the cycle of violence," wrote another fan.
3) Jayce's mistake where he accidentally kills a child
In Arcane season 1 episode 6, Jayce leads a squad of enforcers, now wielding the finished Mercury Hammer, as they board a train carrying barrels of shimmer and force it back to the station. They quickly seize control of the production facility and start arresting workers, many of whom are children.
A red-haired child escapes, triggering an alarm that activates a group of chemtanks—shimmer-enhanced mech-suits. The chemtanks begin killing enforcers with superhuman speed and strength, surrounding Jayce.
In the chaos, Jayce switches to cannon stance and, in his panic, accidentally shoots the red-haired boy. As the child falls over a railing and falls on the ground, Jayce and Vi find the boy to watch him die.
A fan expressed on X:
"The sheer audacity of Caitlyn to shoot somewhere near a child. It doesn’t matter how great of a shot she thinks she is, mistakes happen and Isha could’ve been badly hurt or even worse. Sorry but the Caitlyn hate train is absolutely justified."
"Well, in this season Cait will have to learn that there are lines that should not be crossed when seeking justice," said one user.
4) Vander’s sacrifice
Vander abandoned his fight for Zaun's independence to care for Vi and Powder, which ultimately put him at odds with Silco.
The chaos between Piltover and Zaun spills into the streets, leaving bodies from both sides and orphaning Vi and Powder. Vander, seeing the toll of the conflict, takes the girls in as his own, realizing the cost of his actions. He halts his push for independence, creating a fragile truce between the two sides.
This moment in Arcane marked Vander’s break from his and Silco’s shared dream.
"I think Vander's sacrifice in Arcane is one of the most meaningful fictional sacrifices of all time and I think part of it is because of the nature of Shimmer. It quite literally brings your worst traits to the surface and forces you to act on your most feral instincts," a fan expressed.
5) Silco’s death
Once Vander’s ally, Silco led a failed revolution against Piltover, only to be betrayed by Vander. After killing Vander, Silco took Powder in as his daughter and continued his fight for Zaun’s independence.
After negotiating with Jayce for peace, Jayce demanded Silco hand over Jinx for punishment. Overhearing the conversation, Jinx kidnapped Silco and brought him to a meeting with Vi and Caitlyn to decide whether she'd remain Jinx or return to being Powder.
It was Silco who reached for Jinx’s gun, and in the midst of an emotional breakdown, Jinx guns him down. His final words to Jinx were, "Don't cry. You are perfect."
On Silco's death, fans wrote:
"just randomly got upset about silco's death again. THE PARTY ENDER 4 HOURS AGO AND IM STILL HERE," expressed a user.
"i have to admit i did cry when silco died," another X user said.
"i felt an odd connection to him from start to finish… hurt to watch him go," a third user wrote.
"i actually haven't known peace since Silco died," a fan said.
6) Jinx’s redemption or tragedy: An important moment deciding whether she finds peace or not
This moment in Arcane marks the culmination of her internal struggle between remaining a monster or returning to Powder.
Things go horribly wrong when Jinx hosts a twisted dinner party for those she blames—Vi, Caitlyn, and Silco—who plead with her to choose her true self. With her mental state crumbling, Jinx can't be reasoned with. When Caitlyn breaks free and tries to stop her, Jinx knocks her out. Vi and Silco then try to appeal to both sides of her personality.
It broke Jinx's heart to kill Silco, as he was like a father to her, and she did love him. Blaming Vi for his loss, Jinx decided to bury the part of herself that was Powder.
In response, she launches a missile at the Piltover Council chambers that kills the majority of the council, and thus a war is triggered.
"jinx is for those who have always been labelled different, for those who feel like loneliness is their only friend and pain is the only comfort they know; jinx is for those who think everything they touch is tainted, poisoned even. jinx is for those who wants love and acceptance," an X user wrote.
While another one said this about Jinx in Arcane:
"if we’re talking about monsters - vi made jinx (according to jinx) and jinx made cait. since vi blames herself for creating the monster and sees cait turn into one because of jinx - surely she blames herself for this too."
7) Caitlyn and Vi’s bond
Over the first season, Caitlyn’s release of Vi from prison sparked a fan-favorite partnership and showcased Vi’s growth in Arcane, as she was now open to working with someone from Piltover. Vi had been imprisoned in Stillwater, likely on false charges, but Caitlyn Kiramman secures her release, seeking knowledge about the true forces behind the Undercity.
This marked the beginning of their partnership, which would evolve from allies to friends and eventually something more.
Over the episodes, their bond grows beyond just a work partnership, with a growing attraction between them. Vi gradually opens up to Caitlyn, revealing her more vulnerable side. Their connection faces challenges, but it is restored in season 2 (spoilers ahead), only to face another setback. Despite this, they ultimately reunite once more.
A fan shared:
"caitlyn loves and cares so deeply about vi, she traded her childhood rifle which kept her safe with zero hesitation to save vi, when she was injured and could barely stand she was willing to take bullets to protect vi, every time vi left and she saw vi in pain, she hurt with her," a fan said.
8) Ekko and Heimerdinger’s breakthrough: A touching moment of hope as they create something to aid Zaun.
Heimerdinger is amazed with Ekko's inventor skills, and they go together to Piltover to see the Hextech in Arcane season 2.
While exploring, Ekko, Heimerdinger, and the others encounter Jayce and are set on destroying Hextech. After interacting with it, Ekko and Heimerdinger are transported to a parallel dimension where Zaun thrives, and Ekko is a renowned inventor.
In this reality, Vi died in the Heist, but Claggor, Mylo, Vander, Benzo, and Silco are all alive. Ekko and Powder (who never became Jinx) are together, and he builds Hextech with her and Heimerdinger's help.
Ekko creates the Zero-Drop and discovers time travel. Heimerdinger sacrifices himself to send Ekko back to the original timeline. There, Ekko aids in the war between Piltover-Zaun and Ambessa-Viktor's forces. Just as Viktor is about to complete his plan, Ekko uses the Zero-Drop, disrupting Viktor’s process and stopping the absorption.
This is a touching moment of hope in Arcane as they create something to aid Zaun, and fans can't stop talking about them as a duo.
A fan wrote this about Ekko and Heimerdinger:
"Heimerdinger was confronted about failing Zaun and chose to go into Zaun to learn and undo his mistakes. Alternate reality of Zaun is partially so advanced bc Heimerdinger was there for 3yrs. He died to send Ekko back as well. I really like what they did with him. Wonderful arc."
"Heimerdinger’s character is so interesting to me as like his whole arc is discovering what humanity really is. Like as a scientist and an immortal it’s easy to see how he wouldn’t get humanity and why ekko the character with the most will to live would be the one to show him," shared a fan on X.
